grumpyhack
The Stones have been around for so long and done so much that you could probably fill the entire thread with the millionaire pensioners. From nerve we'll go to 19th Nervous Breakdown. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHwTygK05_M

oneeye
From Pink to CHAMPAGNE Whisty, I will be at the weds meet, all being well. No idea how anyone is going to recognise anyone else; I'm tall, grey haired, fast approaching 50 with 2 eyes lol. Probably going to be sporting a quality crimson and white flowered Hawaiian shirt, something low profile
grumpyhack
From Champagne to Bucks Fizz. Boy bands are nothing new. Bucks Fizz were a put-together band who won Eurovision for the UK in 1981. All most people can remember was the skirt rip dance sequence - wow really daring stuff! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boEph_ic-NM Look forward to the Wednesday meet. I'll have my Grumpyhack T Shirt on with my Avatar. Other than that I'm 64 with a beard aka Pete. Edited June 22, 2014 by grumpyhack

I look just like my avatar but have to leave the girl in my tent, she's fine if we're just walking around but gets embarrassed if I start talking to people. I will have the fag tho. What time Mr C? I think you're a late arrival, I plan on getting there not long after 6 prob be gone by time you get there. Don't want to stay too long and get mashed! Have to walk 1st timer kids round as well And I'll look out for Cyclops in a Hawaiian Brandycoke, reveal yourself. carlosj
HORSE is the link word, Mark Linkous sadly missed. Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse -- Little Girl (fea: whisty, we're aiming to arrive about 4, but then set up and eat curry, so it will probably be nearer 7 (ok, 8 really) when I get there. If I don't see you on Weds, maybe Thursday is better during the day, bring the lady... Edited June 23, 2014 by carlosj

grumpyhack
Link to horse. There was a band called America who had a hit with A Horse With No Name. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm4BrZjY_Sg Scary story that I may have told before (apologies to those who've read it before). Back in the 70s I was an journalist working as part of an investigations team for The People (when it was quite a good investigative newspaper). I was doing a story about Hells Angels and had to take three of them away and spend some time with them. One of them boasted about how they used to do 'security' at music festivals. "Do you remember that band America?" he asked. "Well they don't have a drummer any more. I was doing stage security and this bloke tried to get onto the stage and I threw him off. He tried to get on again, so I threw him off again. The third time he tried he said something to me that made me angry. So I picked him up and broke his back. "I thought he called me a bummer but it turned out he was trying to say that he was the drummer. So that's why the3y don't have a drummer any more. Funny innit?" We may complain about security at festivals today but things have moved on a lot so be grateful.

grumpyhack
My last post here before Glasto. Alarm set for 6.30, though somehow I think I'll be awake. Last pack of toothbrush and fresh food and on the road by 7am. Collect Drewstrat at 7.30. Hook up caravan at 8.00 and meet the rest of the gang at 8.30 to form our convoy. So, although the word to link to is Ventura, I'm going to cheat and link to highway with the word Wild. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UWRypqz5-o or to celebrate our convoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI5eT4UmyFY

whisty
Sorry to anybody I missed. Did go wed, got there early, no flag. Waited away a bit, saw the flag and 2 things got me. 1, was so tired after being in the q all night, had nothing left in my brain. 2, Still felt uncomfortable walking into the middle of a crowd without knowing somebody. I guess there's always next year. Hope you guys had a great time
grumpyhack
From Gaslight to a more modern Laser These performers were so good I went and saw them twice in the Cabaret. This video doesn't really do them justice but it's all I could find. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hx7qiby4B8 Good to put faces to a few names but sorry we didn't get to meet up Whisty. Next year......

grumpyhack
When you think Brothers at Glastonbury you often think CIDER http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfSEje--5PI The Wurzels who packed out the Avalon for a great singalong Alternatively a choice with Dire Straits Brothers in ARMS Wembley 1985 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fb_Jzgnrpv8 I slip this one in because I reckon Mark Knopfler still leave most guitarists standing. Sadly, didn't get to see John Illsley at Glasto this year but not sure about a bassman without the lead.
brandycoke
Had great intentions of meeting up, but unfortunately circumstances wouldn't allow, hope you all had a great time. Just loaded up iTunes to look for a suitable link, and it won't find my music, even though it damn well knows where it is. Fourth time this has happened in as many years and its really annoying ,as i have quite a lot of music and it takes ages to re-do. I 'm not even that keen on my iPod, as sound wise, my near ten year old iriver completely knocks its socks off. Apple rant over. Link is mine. grumpyhack
Police often found at Glasto on Horses http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeGUUZnPOi4 "They Shoot Horses Don't They?" was a very powerful 1969 film directed by Sydney Pollack and starring Jane Fonda about the dance marathons held in the depression of the thirties. Also inspired this song by Racing Cars - one of the great under-appreciated bands of South Wales.
