Floyd still remain one of my best live experiences - along with Van on a good night. My first thought looking at this was "Don't they look young?" Then I realised it was over 40 years ago.

Flutter

Can't figure why I never went to West Holts Sunday evening to see Bonobo. Mind you, seems to be story of my festival this year, missing those I wanted to see and funny as it is had a great time after a couple of years thinking I'd wrung the enjoyment out of that particular experience. Been trying to put my finger on it and can only think that maybe because I didn't stick to a schedule it became more of an impromptu experience. So I read that maybe you won't go Mr Hack, that's a shame but then all those other festivals sound like a gooood plan to me. And just to say, I really like Womad & was upset I couldn't get there this year :)

Got to be Vegas

Has to be accompanied with this. Never knew she was in Carnal Knowledge, remember skipping school to sneak in the pictures and see that film at way too young an age :)

If you sneaked in to see that did you see her in Tommy? This really is dirty dancing.

So the link, apart from Ann Margaret, is what people might count at Vegas - Beans

Sadly this band isn't around any more because of health problems. I went to see their final show in 2009.

Excellent guitar from Graham Williams should get your pulse Racing

The band was one of South Wales' finest but were dogged by the 'one hit wonder' label after the success of They Shoot Horses Don't They?

And I was at The Point for the performance too. Possibly the best music venue I've ever known - but also sadly no more.

Remember the Horses very well.

Roosevelt Sykes has a track Running the Boogie. Can't find live but this one looks like a little gem to me. Freaky face in the window, best not let it draw your attention away from those magic fingers :)

Edit, so just listened to a tune played by him on the same album, Viper Song. I'm sure Mr Hack knows that tune in one or other of it's forms. Anyway a reason why I like playing this game, the trips it sends me on. Milton "Mezz" Mezzrow interesting fellow from way back when. :)

When you start you have to Keep on Running.

Another Welsh lad here - Spencer Davis.

A few not so well known facts (if you can believe Wikipedia).

His surname was originally Davies but he dropped the e as people kept pronouncing it Daveys.

He formed a band called The Saints with Bill Perks (who later became known as Bill Wyman).

He went to Birmingham University and read German but played in bands by night. At college he dated and performed with Christine Perfect (later to become Christine McVie in Fleetwood Mac).

I guess Cows use Prairie to graze on. Neil Young's vocal style I find quite depressing after being subjected to After the Goldrush as a teenager. But I really enjoyed the Documentary surrounding the album Prarie Wind http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473692/ & particularly like the title track. There's a thread about regrets missing somebody at Glastonbury. Have no idea why I didn't see Neil Young, looked at the line up, can't even figure where I was. Not that I have any regrets but think it was an epic fail missing that set. Anyway...............

James Taylor and that song is in Mrs GH's top ten.

This has to be one of the greatest 'covers' of all time and a stunning performance. Not very often that someone can take a Beatles song and make it their own.

He toured Europe last year and, if he could be persuaded out of his Colorado ranch would be a great catch for Glasto's Oldies Slot.

Several bits of revolution here. The words to this song come from the Book of Ecclesiastes in The Bible but the tune was written by Pete Seeger and the hit version was by The Byrds.

Roger McGuinn performed it at Seeger's 90th Birthday party concert but this is him doing it solo.

McGuinn did a great slot at Glasto a few years ago where he explained the history of the band and the stories behind some of their songs.

McGuinn's 12 string Rickenbacker was the signature sound of The Byrds.

Thread needs a bump so I'll play with myself.

Brothers. A masterclass from Mark Knopfler. Still in my book one of the finest guitarists of all time.

Public

Just a tune, nice one from JB. Something live below tho :)

Got 1 min in on that Public Enemy vid until my ears hurt. Not a fan of Crap either and don't know if this is classed as that but funny, I dismissed Deltron 3030 after youtube preview but walked up to West Holts as they started setting up, decided to watch 1st tune just out of curiosity and stayed for the whole set. Think that's what I enjoyed this year. One day, set off to watch 1st band but got to the stage a band earlier, so watched, enjoyed didn't want to wait so moved to next stage and same happened for most of the day, ended up all off the cuff and more enjoyable for it :)
