The song that revived Tina's career. Written by Mark Knopfler but which featured Jeff Beck on guitar in the recording. Live she was superb.

This is her on top form with David Bowie

^^ Funny :)

If you go there according to my upbringing I'll most likely meet either of these. Peter / Gabriel. That will of course be after (from the mind of a 6 or seven year old) spending an indeterminable amount of time in some really scary place called purgatory!

This is so ramped up from the tune I remember, looks good tho.

Maintaining the theme of heavenly names you could have encountered all three of Peter, Paul and Mary. At their peak they produced harmonies to match anyone.

Sadly Mary died from Leukemia

This solo song from Peter (Yarrow) from the group gives me the link word. Sorry no video of this performance but what a beautiful song reflecting on lost love and opportunities.

From Gold to Finger

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k22aifcVJ4k

The magnificent Shirl at Glastonbury when she performed in sequined welly boots.

One of my favourite stories about this was that Shirley was flown out afterwards by helicopter. But during the flight she was desperate for a pee. So the helicopter put down in a field near a little house in the country and someone went up, knocked on the door, and explained to the houseowner that they had Shirley Bassey on board and she was desperate. Could she please use their loo? Shirl was invited in and after a wee stopped for a cuppa.

What a great story to tell about how Shirley Bassey dropped in to use your loo.

Scrap

Like this DJ Mixer & just found out why, it's bass but not as we know it Jim. Fingathing messing around with Dr Who. Poor quality tho.

And a bit better quality sounding but not live, one of my fav Fingathing tracks.

Scrap can be waste for some but fun machines for others.

Anyway the link is Dustman

This is the late Lonnie Donnegan - a huge influence in British music with his popularisation of Skiffle. The Quarrymen, who became The Beatles, began as a Skiffle band inspired by Donnegan. Others who cite him as big influences include Mark Knopfler and Van Morrison (with whom Donnegan recorded a skiffle album).

Guess a Dustman must have been a Boy at one point. JJ Rosa, a highlight thurs night for me, front of stage, in fact a highlight of the whole weekend. She seemed to be genuinely surprised by the amount of people that had turned up at what was a tiny venue (the Spike), which was real nice. On the basis that it wasn't easy to find, people there had took time to find it to see here. Think this young lady will be noticed more and more over time.

If you watch it, stick with it, towards the end, nice guitar stuff going on.

J J Rosa looks like someone with a future.

By contrast a classic from the past. Annie belts out I Need a Man

From man to CHESTER

Agree with you Whisty about JJ Rosa, amazing performance. We stumbled across her purely by accident, like you we were near the front, the place was rammed; marvellous stuff :)

Annie Lennox I wish I'd seen in her prime or maybe still now :)

Good job I never looked backwards at JJ Rosa gig, Cyclops would have scared the hell out of me :) Cool you were there Oneye.

Grant

Came across a few albums in a box that somebody had discarded, took a few home and though, blimey these are weird. King Crimson, Aphrodites Child and a double Pink Floyd album that was just crazy to my young ears. Anyway, always loved this track along with some others on that album, to the point of paying a visit to the meadow :)

I've always loved Granchester Meadows. Ummagumma is a great double album that shows Floyd's range well. And a very neat cover.

Anyway Grant cues happy memories and a bit of Glasto sunshine.

Immigrant to Land

Sadly some people are a bit precious about their land (no room for immigrants) but the land belongs to us all.

Land to Take Off, as in planes.

Haven't seen Sea of Bees around for a bit, but here's Jules' version of Leaving on a jet plane from her 2nd album. The only celebrity I've seen and talked to at Glastonbury.

I love Leaving on a Jet Plane, a beautiful song.

So here's Macca at Glasto with Jet

Funnily enough I was talking about Glasto moments with someone at a birthday party tonight and Macca came up. I'm not one of his greatest fans but I'll always remember how he ended his set with Hey Jude and everyone left going back to their tents still singing "Na, na nah, na nana na naa."

No apologies for posting this video. It still can reduce me to tears but occasionally no bad thing that we are shaken from our complacency.

From the link word of fast to Cars

This is the film footage shown at Live Aid behind the song "Drive - Who's Gonna Take You Home?" by The Cars.

We're in the danger of posting music vids when we used to search out live performances.

Oops, Grumpy getting his metaphorical cane out. In my defence your honour, Jack Nitzsche is a soundrack man so nothing live to find. And I was going to post Yello but you know, it was only a music vid, shame on you Cyclops :)

To satiate Grumpy, the lovely Nina Miranda - Underwater Love

Was drawn to those vocals some years ago after hearing a few tracks. As the BBC has used God only Knows, here's a version from Nina in an incarnation with the band Shrift 10 years ago. For me the vocals are simply angelic. Sorry Mr Hack, not live!
