Matthew's touring in April, I'll go check him out. Cheers whisty.

Pace is fast for a Roadrunner, but I'll take the link to AM, the old style radio mentioned in the song. This version gets going after 50 seconds.

Sure to enjoy Mr White :)

Myself I went for T Dolby I scare myself which used to quite like back then and found out he's a thief! Think the original is much better. Learn something every day it seems.

Nice to see you back Mr Hack and see you had a great time. The only thing I've seen of Vietnam outside of the depressing American stuff is a Top Gear special based there. As much as Clarkson is a fool his waxing lyrical about the landscapes was pretty cool & made my mouth water to see it with own eyes. Maybe one day.

God

Not a massive fan but always liked this track.

The Top Gear Vietnam special actually captured the scenery and country well. The coastline is breathtaking - especially Hai Long Bay, which was also used to film a James Bond sequence.

God gives me a chance to post one of my favourite songs - You STAY Here by Richard Shindell. It's a song about a family caught up in the Bosnian War.

Shindell, who is now based in Buenos Aires, was championed and brought to the UK by Show of Hands. I met him and chatted for quite a while at a folk fest a couple of years ago and told him that I used "You Stay Here" in some creative writing classes and he was genuinely flattered to think that someone thought it worth using as an example of powerful poetry. I think he thought I was some big shot academic, not a lowly adult ed tutor!

The god connection is a line that says: "You stay here and I'll go look for god because I know where he's not."

From Stay to Shakespeares Sister (or Banana rama if you're that way inclined). Cheery video, but it does have a happy ending. Nice story Mr Hack, always makes me wonder people's journeys that leave them living in places other than they grew up.

Ah, Mr Hack, I bet you would like Justin, when he's slowed down 800 times. I first heard a track on a Jarvis Cocker Sunday afternoon last year, but googling produces some more links

Take your pick from Sledge or Hammer (or both).

A classic from a much younger Peter Gabriel

No problems with Justin, it's Will i am that I struggle with. Not into ©rap.

Was going to go for Fiddle About from Tommy but it's a pretty unpleasant song so a bit of cheery singalong from Fiddler's Dram

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8WiPy1xSkw

The song was written by Debbie Cook who now writes scripts for Eastenders and The Archers.

Two fiddlers for the price of one. Track featured on an NK album called Kafka, an album which stayed in my player for at least a month. I do prefer the version that features Stephan Grapelli but can't find live.

Lets have Nigel

Qoute "Kafka - What really makes this album an "event" is the innovative, jaw-dropping musicianship. Kennedy transforms his concert violin into an "axe"; he does for it what his hero Jimi Hendrix did for the electric guitar. He combines the virtuosity that has made him famous in the concert hall with a superlative command of electronic timbral shapeshifting and applies it to a highly varied set of compositions that mix rock with jazz with classical with East with West with . . . Importantly, Kennedy cooks. He rocks. He bites. He explodes. He cuts loose without a score as well as any rock or jazz musician, but with his own uniquely brilliant voice"

The track off the album with Mr Grapelli

Guess Cantaloupe could be in a fruit pie. Hugh Masekela covered that tune on an album. Just decided to get a ticket for Womad and have very fond memories of seeing Hugh Masekela there a few years ago. Maybe 30 years after I 1st saw him and got blown away by his trumpet playing, a lasting memory. I know Mr Grump was considering a Womad visit, such a nice festival.

So Hugh Masakela prob best known for this tune and in all it's forms never boring.

A jollier song with a more lively Paul Simon that he was at G!

A cantaloupe is a sort of MELON so here's Blind Melon with a suitably entitled song for festivals.

I've got my four fests for the year settled: Wychwood, Glasto, Chagstock and Farmer Phil's, so no chance of Womad this year Whisty.

However, if you like Ladysmith Black Mambazo they're playing at my first fest of the year Wychwood at Cheltenham Racecourse - May 28-31. A great start to the festival season, and actually sponsored by EFests. (I think Neil's romantic entanglement started there).

Shame you can't make Womad Mr G, plenty room in my tent :) For me it's real hard to get weekends off in the summer so I have to be real choosy or lucky to get to a festival. Roll on retirement!

There's only one Grace - SLICK

This is from her final performance with Jefferson Starship. Keep an eye on chain smoking Paul Kantner who holds a fag in his right hand while playing lead guitar.

And a young grace in her prime with Jefferson Airplane.
