People need to get READY

So many versions of this Curtis Mayfield classic but here's Joss Stone and Jeff Beck having a go.

Sadly Curtis is another Grumpy Gonner but this is the man himself.

Slap

Saw these early on the under card at Knebworth 1978 maybe & remember them getting bombed with tin cans from the audience who were less that appreciative. Couln't understand it myself, thought they were pretty good, maybe it was the way they dressed.. Anyway good memories. Loved thier version of Satisfaction, went round on my turntable endlessly driving the household mad I suppose!

HOLD

How pop has 'progressed' in forty years. P.J. Proby in 1965. A man who started doing demos for Elvis to learn his lyrics and had a famous trouser splitting incident on stage which caused a big stir at the time.

And the Azerbaijan entry which finished second in 2013 for the Eurovision song contest. (United Kingdom came in 19th).

Set me free....you keep me HANGING on.

I thought Vanilla Fudge and Carmine Appice's drumstick twirls were preferable to Englebert Humperdink's Please Release Me - though on thinking about it....... Gerry's recorded duets with a lot of people who ought to know better and is still touring aged 76

I'll go for a WESTERN theme, moving from Hanging Judge Roy Bean, (played by Paul Newman) to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Roy was a colourful character, stealing most things, and not averse to shooting people, but he only sentenced 2 people to hanging, despite his nickname.
