At Download there'd be a riot if Skrillex got a bigger slot than KoRn...

1) Just another flavour of the month dubsteppy/rocky/dancey crossover or 2) One of the most influential metal bands of the last 30 years...

Ticket sales dictate everything and Skrillex sells more tickets. KoRn were stuck on the second stage while MCR headlined, they played below Pendulum etc...

Its not as simple as that, it depends of the demographic of the festival. How many of the people who buy tickets to skrillex would consider buying a ticket to download?

KoRn's last tour sold very well, as all the shows I could have gone to had sold out. Dont have a clue what kind of venue skrillex was playing though

From what I remember Korn's Brixton show didn't sell out but was very close to and Skrillex 2 Brixton shows and late night club show in London did.

I bet more people into Korn would be more likely to buy a ticket to DL compared to Skrillex fans.

But are they buying them anyway or only buying them if Korn play? If they're already buying tickets then on top of that why not try and attract those who wouldn't normally go.

Yeah I guess I depends on the rest of the line-up, if it needs more weight then solidifying it with Korn would be a good move but if he thinks he's already got enough there and wants to try and use Skrillex to attract new people then I guess he goes in that direction.

Id rather Download didnt book acts to get people to turn up for that one act to be honest, I want people there who would be there regardless, otherwise we'll start getting the type of crowds that make me stay away from V these days, and if Download alienates its core fanbase it wouldnt survive

I think a Friday main of Slipknot/Deftones/Korn/BMTH would be excellent. All fairly similar bands which would shift a lot of tickets.

On the debate of Korn vs Skrillex; Skrillex does not deserve a higher slot than Korn. Simple. But yes he would be a fantastic alternative as a clash with a typical Download metal band.

On another note, what does everyone think the chances are of getting Lynyrd Skynyrd on the bill this year? Would be a brilliant addition even though it's not the original line-up imo.

Headliners were enough to rope me in straight off, the two best live metal bands around at the moment and crazy dude with glasses that plays keyboard... what more can you ask for? Anything else is going to be a bonus... And yes, in case anyone is wondering I am sitting looking at a Soni 2010 fridge magnet, and those were amazing headliners, and if they want to rip every last act off that bill then I don't care because it was a good weekend!

Surely Airbourne are gunna be playing Download after being announced for Soni France and Rock AM Ring the week before Download and Nova Rock the same weekend

Also just saw Live Nation are running a festival in Poland the week before Download, the headliners are Rammstein and 30 Seconds To Mars and the only other act are Behemoth, so I expect them back at Download too.

Anyway, have you seen Nova Rock headliners Rammstein, KISS, Kings of Leon.

Being the same weekend we definatly got the better headliners.

Nova Rock used to have nothing but Rock headliners, now they're booking Kings of Leon, shows that the pot of Rock headliners is definatly thinning. There's no way Download could get away with Kings of Leon as headliner.

They had The Verve & Placebo headline before but they are streching tho as they had Linkin Park headline in both 2011 & 2012. Give it time and Download will have Linkin Park headlining every year too.

Nova Rock's always been a lot more varied. Pretty sure Kate Nash played the other year there. Its similar to Rock Am Ring in a way and people over there seem to embrace it rather than all the elitism over here in regards to genres at festivals.

I thinks it's only that way because there are too many festivals on this small isle so newer festivals try to carve out a niche.
