Nova Rock's always been a lot more varied. Pretty sure Kate Nash played the other year there. Its similar to Rock Am Ring in a way and people over there seem to embrace it rather than all the elitism over here in regards to genres at festivals.

Its one thing to have a different kind of act lower down the bill but headliners set the whole theme of the festival. Im not a musical snob, Id love Download to book some acts that Andy seems wouldn't fit like Pixies, We Are Scientists and The Manics and if he insists on some 'dance' type he should bust his ass to get Aphex Twin or even better pull off something special and book The Knife

Does anyone know why the only 'non-rock/metal' bands he'll book is dance bands? for example, surely the Manics fit better than some dance bands.on twitter he has scoffed at people suggesting the killers or black keys but surely they are just as far away from slipknot and maiden as modestep or chase and status are.

Really wish Download would book Placebo sometime soon... they're not exactly far removed from the audience... they subbed to Rammstein fine at Soni... would be a great sub band for the fest.

The one mentioned that always gets me is the Manics, they are definitely a band that would suit DL, I really dont see why they are dismissed in the slightest

placebo would have to sub at least, they are far too big to play an afternoon or teatime slot. or they could headline the 2nd stage.

Ah I heard they wanted no sound bleeding whatsoever... Will be happy if I can at least pop over to third stage. Although depends on who is on of course. I sort of want to give Maiden another chance and then sort of really don't.
