Wooderson
The Stones is 100K+, that is unless Fuck Buttons and Chase N' Status are gonna drag 50K to their stages, which I doubt.
russycarps
Think it could be the biggest crowd in the history of the festival. Have you seen who've been scheduled against them?! also, I didnt mean in terms of size, I meant in terms of dancing like loons!
Ed209
The Stones is 100K+, that is unless Fuck Buttons and Chase N' Status are gonna drag 50K to their stages, which I doubt. I think its going to be Stevie Wonder size. what was that? around 80K or so? Stevie probably has more cross genre respect and love and receives a broader interest. Stevie had the Sunday when the field is always more busy because of the locals who camp there for the day. Stevie had a scorcher of a day. Counteract that with plebs who think Stevie is a cheese artist who only wrote "I just called to say" and the fact we doesn't have the intrigue factor that the Stones will carry and I reckon its gonna be pretty even between the two. (Weather is a big factor too)
CaledonianGonzo
Just can't fathom going to see the Bootleg Beatles instead of the Stones. I like them as much as the next man, but members-wise they're Trigger's Broom and they tour the UK about 3 times a year.

Midnight Man
That above is a 2.5 hour show and I doubt they'll do that long at Glasters. I think that, as a minimum, ER and One More Shot won't survive the edit. Springsteen got 2.5 hours, didn't he? Think so. Hope you're right about ER and One More Shot. I'm liking that "You Got the Silver' is getting established - really hoping they keep that in...
CaledonianGonzo
The mindset of 'I like the music of The Beatles but I dislike the music of the Rolling Stones' is a little puzzling.

The Nal
my mate went to see them last time they played, in a headline slot again, and said it was utterly rammed, inside and outside the tent! think that might have been 2009 when flaming lips were on It was. I was there. At Gorillaz, then the Lips and then the last 30 mins of the Bootlegs. Great fun. But are Beatles fans not Stones fans too? Anyway, theres only so many people you can fit into that tent. Same for Peel tent etc. So, 180,000 people at the festival. Numbers (ish) below fair to say? Bootlegs gets 3k Chase and Status 30k Public Enemy 20k Fuck Buttons 4k Hurts 3k Others Stages 5k People not seeing any gig 10k By my shite maths that means there could be 100k+ at the Stones. Easy. People say they're not down with the hip kids but I saw more of those Stones tshirts with the diamond tongue design at Glasto 2011 than any other tshirt. Its "cool" to go see The Stones. I really think Glasto HQ has fucked up badly on this. It could be a real mess.
Trebor
I don't know about that, I reckon Eavis will want the crowds split for safety, but at the same time he'll want a massive crowd for the Stones, perhaps more so than any other band who have yet appeared. FloorFiller
to be fair a lot of the people wearing The Rolling Stones t-shirts have probably never heard a Rolling Stones song in their life. likewise with The Ramones and Guns 'N Roses. shops like Topman and Primark just use their names / designs for t-shirts because they look nice it is going to be ridiculously overcrowded. i'm gonna get to the Pyramid field for Primal Scream, POSSIBLY Elvis Costello, and i bet even then it'll be rammed full of people waiting for the Stones. the acts on opposite them are a weird bunch - only Chase & Status have ANY kind of pull against the Stones. i think even Public Enemy will suffer which is a shame. Hurts, Fuck Buttons and Bootleg Beatles... thin crowds at best
russycarps
didnt everyone say the same for U2 and stevie wonder though? It'll be busy, but no more than any other headliner I think. Coldplay last time they played would have been a bigger draw I reckon.

Coldplay last time they played would have been a bigger draw I reckon. Orbital were up against Stevie though. Always 40k odd at them. And Stevie was still the busiest I've ever seen that field. And that was a Sunday too when a lot of people had left. U2 had Primal Scream, Cee Lo Green, Fatboy Slim, DJ Shadow on at the same time. And it was pissing rain. I think the Stones could be a 120k. Its as marquee as it gets and theres nobody up against them who haven't played your local indoor venue in the last couple of years.
Trebor
The Stevie Wonder crowd was huge! Me and the wife could barely get round the path at the back of the field to try and find a decent spot.
CaledonianGonzo
I'd be surprised if Beyonce's wasn't the biggest crowd of recent years. We got quite close to the front for Stevie, but arrived about the same time for, er, 'Bey' and couldn't make it much past the outer edges of the field. Ed209
all nothing compared to Bowie of course. There were 5 million people in the field that night
Wooderson
ScottieTooHottie of this parish has stated on here in the past that Stevie was the biggest he's seen in all his years visiting the festival. I had a good view of the field that night - as did you Nallo - and there were parts of it that were packed that are never usually packed. In front of the Solidarity Bar for example was rammed. Unless I'm totally misjudging the draw that Chase N Status have the Stones will be the most oversubscribed performance on the Pyramid since Stevie Wonder, and Bowie before that. Its gonna be a right old mess.
CaledonianGonzo
Paul Simon seemed busier than even Stevie or Beyonce, mind. Mind you, Rolf Harris was ridiculous as well.
The Nal
Paul Simon seemed busier than even Stevie or Beyonce, mind. Mind you, Rolf Harris was ridiculous as well. Thats because everyone was sitting or lying down. 2 million turned up in Brazil to see The Stones. I'm surprised people don't realise how busy this is going to be. Wooderson
Arent there rumours that 250K saw the Levellers in '94? The field can take it.
Ed209
Arent there rumours that 250K saw the Levellers in '94? The field can take it. I struggle to believe there's ever been 250 000 people in that field. I'm fairly sure a lot of these rumours are hugely exaggerated. Neil is certainly of the opinion that the Bowie talk of 200000 is bullshit.
