The return of the One day festival?

Just been reading about the cancellation of Sonisphere UK 2013.

I'm not surprised about the cancellation and no-1 else seems to be. I've been sayin to ppl for a while, there are too many festivals and too little bands to headline the bills. particularly genre specific fests such as DL.

As I am reading on the Classic Rock web-site and the Planet Rock web-site comments on the subject everyone is talking about bringing back one day festivals, such as Monsters of Rock.

Now this is something I would love to see return. I war 15 When my mother took me to MOR 2005 at Milton Keynes. and Ive been to many fests since, but MOR i still say way the best day ever.

Should we bring back the one day festival?

There's fuckloads of them around London. Hard Rock Calling's a good example. Weekend festivals are an entirely different experience and I wouldn't want to see fewer of them.

Theres quite a few run by indivual bands, with 4 or 5 support acts which are basically one day festivals.

A big one day festival Id be all for it, people say that you could just go for a day at a festival instead, but with Download they purposely spread acts you would like across the weekend so you buy a weekend ticket instead of a day ticket hence why Rammstein has an undercard that seems indifferent.

For me at Download this year, the acts I really want to see are Slipknot, QOTSA, ADTR and Rammstein and the rest I could give or take, if they were all playing the same day I would just do a day ticket.

Id be bang up for a day festival, MK bowl, yeah. Get Faith No More playing!

Any chance of High Voltage coming back? Other than the sound quality, it was an awesome day. (I had a ticket for both days but was too hungover to go on the Sunday!)

Prodigy, MK Bowl, 2010, Warriors Dance Festival. 2stages, mostly good bands, great festival feel, one day. However, being a veteran of the old MoR at Donnington, I have to say I prefer the Download set up. MoR for one day always left you wanting more...

the problem with one day fests is that the infrastructure costs work out far higher on a per-day basis, meaning that you get less bands for your money.
