Festival Suggestions Please.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the site and am looking for some suggestions for small budget festivals with a great atmosphere.

Having done most of the big festivals over the years I have become more and more disillusioned with the whole "Pack em in and rip em off" mentality.

I went to Lechlade music festival in Oxfordshire last year as its just up the road from me and for £22 a ticket I thought was worth a look. Had a great time, reminded me of what I loved about festivals 20 years ago!

So this year I'm ditching the £150-£200 a ticket gigs for as many small, intimate, local festivals as I can get too.

Happy to travel for and wide so if you have a glowing recommendation for a small, friendly weekend festival I'd love to hear it.

Thanks in advance.

Well, it depends on what type of music you're into, but Bearded Theory and Alchemy are two that come to mind - both are small and friendly.

Every year we've done Glastonbury together with a few smaller festivals.

Our favourities have become:

Wychwood (Cheltenham Racecourse - medium sized and price)

Chagstock in Devon - small and friendly

Croissant Neuf Summer Party in Usk. Fabulous festival, great for kids - loads of workshops and very safe, and the whole thing is solar powered.

I used to also do the Trowbridge Village Pump but that imploded a year or so back but has probably been resurrected.

I'd love to Al but I think it'll be too close to the roses and Kendal for me this yr, babys due in 3 weeks now and don't wanna overdo it on the first year for her ! Was gonna consider solfest but I've plugged for the safer option and booked a couple of cottages in the lakes to take em too instead . Can see me going with the lads in a few years time
