Deftones

I think they would be so much better in the tent. Bands sound so much better in the tent for a start, they'd play a longer set so we'd get to hear a better mix of old stuff and new stuff. You would also get more dedicated fans in the crowd.

I find that some bands playing 4th get trapped in no mans land a little bit as their setlists are too short and you have a lot of people waiting for higher up bands to play.

If Deftones play 4th again i think that they will get a very uninterested crowd again. Might get slightly better atmosphere if they played 3rd but personally i don't think they are big enough

I agree with all of this. They'd be a good tent headliner, I think they'd get a better crowd than ATDI/Jane's Addiction/FNM as they're a bit more relevant, they may be a bit of overkill at R&L recently but another uninspiring set in the evening on the main stage isn't going to change that. I'm surprised that they've been booked there again, I thought if they were going to have them back for a third time in six years at least they'd try something different with them (this is what makes me think they'll put them third this year, at least it's slightly different).

Yeah, thinking of the rock clubs that I go to. The heavier club would play deftones and not Biffy. The other rock club is a bit more mainstream and would play both biffy and deftones, but they both wouldn't go as indie as say KOL or arctics.

There is crossover in rock circles for both, but biffy are definitely more accessible and mainstream. Biffy get radio play during the day quite a bit, but I'm not sure deftones do.

Deftones may be 'fairly heavy' or not as commercial as Biffy but it's not as if they're Slayer or Anthrax. They're still pretty accessible (certainly their later stuff), it's not as if they're going to shock the average indie fan.
