Yellow_Fellow
They were supposed to be. Lostprophets were offered the 2nd from top but declined it in favour of the sunset slot so they could see NIN, the performance which saw Reznor steal their drummer from them. Chavmeisterdeluxe
The subspot is normally the sunset spot and Lostprophets being offered the sub spot doesn't sound right to me. 2 years later they played the tent and they've been going on about wanting to headline this fest and that fest for years so I can't imagine them wanting a lower spot than what has been offered. jump
I believe it was more down to LP not wanting to play above NIN out of respect for them than the sun situation. They were definitely offered between NIN and Pumpkins to begin with.

mrtourette
If he gets found not guilty of his current charges then I'll believe that, it he's found guilty and proven to be a liar I'll assume such an explanation is also bullshit. Can't say any fairer than that.

Yellow_Fellow
He's pleading not guilty. I'll have a look when I'm back at home dentalplan, I'm sure it was in an interview I watched on YouTube and it was fairly recent iirc. Around the "We want to headline Reading Festival" bit. thewayiam
Heavilly rumoured for pukkelpop and rock en seine aswel. I would be amazed if they didnt play reading/leeds in some capacity.
jump
In the fact that Reading won't have just got them directly the year after Download would make sense if Reading wanted them to get them now.
theramm
If System play they'll headline, no doubt about it. Them only haing played 1 UK gig since their reformation & likely a UK exclusive would be reason enough. I was a little disappointed by their performance at Download, musically they were bang on form but their was no chemistry between the members on stage. That said, I'd seen them at the Manchester Academy on the Toxity tour the 1st time round when they were batshit mental. All the people who'd not seen them before were waxing lyrical about them on the Download forums. Given that R&L has a younger audience demographic than that of Donington I'd wager a lot of the audience wont have seen the 1st time so this would likely be their chance. SOAD would certainly be a bigger booking than the likes of MCR or Arcade Fire (smallest headline crowd I've ever seen at any major fest). PDAD
But if we're gonna talk about demographic appeal, i can't see how the Cure could be much more appealing than SOAD

jump
Completely agree with all of this. Headlining every festival they have done since being back, and would be a great choice for R&L, no way they wouldn't headline.
