LondonTom
Obvious troll is obvious The Who....I can't see it for a number of reason I doubt it'd sell out like people are claiming and the only feasible way it would happen would be for them to do a greatest hits set rather than the bringing the Quadrophenia tour to reading... (Which seems unlikely ...) and yeah I also think of Behind Blue Eyes before most of those mentioned!!! I guess people might know Magic Bus to from the simpsons episode? thesecretingredientiscrime
Oh and even though reading is getting more diverse, remember its roots are that it is a rock festival. So bands like Biffy and System who are massive in the rock scene have a right to be there. Don't like it? Good. Don't go. thesecretingredientiscrime
Weaker and stronger yes... There is always a possibility for bands or acts stock to fall or rise though so what is considered bona-fide now, e.g Foos, muse etc could easily drop back down past headliner level. You just have to look at some of the acts that have headlined in the past as legends but then fell further down the lineup as times gone by. kaosmark2
would you rather: 'ride Biffy Clyros dick' or rag Hayley Williams take Hayley Williams out for a nice cup of coffee whilst starring lovingly into her eyes as she tells you every last detail about her day, before surprising her with a big box of chocolates and a nice stroll on the beach into the sunset? Andre91
It's okay if I don't leave Doncaster! I'm used to this degree of Northern. I stayed with my brother in Norwich at the weekend and no one on his uni course knows more than a few northern people, and they're fascinated by the accent! Anyway, on topic, erm, I dunno. Prodigy or Blur. Hoping Neil's info was wrong!

jonodillieono
but what if the last headliner is Lady Gaga? You could get Dizzee subbing her then and have Ke$ha 3rd down. I'd sell my weekend ticket and buy a day ticket for both Reading and Leeds so I could see that beautiful day twice. Seriously though, Blur/Linkin Park/The Prodigy are the only 3 I could possibly see it being and the first 2 look incredibly unlikely so it's looking like we might become R&L warriors this year
Lithium05
I don't think Sabbath should be written off just yet, arena dates in November or whatever was mentioned but wouldn't rule them out. As for the whole "they don't belong at Reading" bollocks, maybe they're putting in these new stages to keep the trendy crowd happy, while putting Sabbath in to bring in a more mature audience, and that's before even mentioning the fact that I'm sure there are people in the "target age" bracket that listen to sabbath too, and haven't had a chance to see them at Download because it's in term time.. As far as I can tell it's between them or Prodigy, but I'm not convinced Prodigy are headliner material, even with a new album subbing Eminem seems a better fit... jump
Would they announce those shows pre reading/leeds? I would of thought that would affect ticket sales(especially day tickets) in a big way. Multiple arena dates and folk wouldnt need to shell out for a more expensive r&l ticket, travel, hotels etc etc. When do blur dates go up to? Sziget? thetime
Probably not but Sabbath could use R&L as an advert for a tour with tixs going on sale just the fest still giving them a long enough window for the actual shows in Nov to sell out. Didn't they say they were touring the US in Aug tho?

thetime
Have they announced them? I thought they'd only mentioned vague plans, leaving them open to be announced for Reading/Leeds, then announce their own shows around the time of/just after the festivals. brettredmayne
http://www.blurballs.com/p/blur-2013-tour.html?m=1 blur announced more dates, end of August still left open
Asdaprice
Yeah looking at those blur dates my gut says they are playing. To me, it looks like the same scenario we had with system, seeing a gap but just not knowing for sure. Which would mean biffy play above system and they mislead us on that radio interview. sneaky scots! Biffy, system, Eminem, prodigy, Blur, jack white/ Noel g/ XX C'mon, gotta be!? ladbrokeboy
id go with fall out boy under blur , and bloc party under eminem
mrtourette
I don't think that they intentionally misled, by 'closing the festival' they may have meant generrally being the last on rather than specifically the last on the final day. ladbrokeboy
i think fall out boy could fit nicely below any of biffy/eminem/blur/green day if any of them possible. obviously they cant to eminem as he's sunday and fall out boy friday (in terms of leeds)
jump
They may not have but how I think FOB fit below Biffy Clyro pretty well.
ladbrokeboy
yeah that day seemed very random when announced. i think it was the best day mind
dancelittleliar
Still think FOB will third. And agreed, blur is looking ever more likely, especially with that gap in the tour dates. Perhaps Biffy SOAD Eminem Prodigy Blur The xx That would sell a ridiculous number of tickets, it must be said. Just if they have the money to pull it off
