yeah thats completely fair, i think its blur. but as i've said in other posts, if there is a deftones, system, then headliner which isnt biffy day, i think they would a be a choice. Nu metal is kinda dead, but if the day already has that angle then a commercial nu metal headliner who still gets number 1 album UK charts is a sensible choice. Have a great alternative on NME, and you've catered for the nu metal fanboys.

Plus (and i hate to sound like a fanboy myself - I just like promoting good albums) have you heard their latest? Living Things is a unique, solid album which did well and I believe are LP back on form

Same thing could be said of Metallica though. They are doing fests in Japan early August then they are doing rio early September. Nothing in the middle.

If we are making tedious links like that anyone could play.

Sabbath are from England, some members still live here, it's not outside the realms of possibility that they do two one off shows here before their November tour in the starts. A warm up show somewhere just like download last year.

Blur would be the best out of the bunch being toted mostly. I'd love Metallica, they were awesome at download last year. Prodigy were good too but from a personal point of view I don't think their set would offer anything new. Sabbath I though were the worst of the three at download last year.

Then if we got someone completely left field I'd have pixies as my number one choic, although if they are still headline material could be debatable.

Melvin said all headliners have played before, which may or may not have been bullshit.

On the day he said that, they were removed from the lineup page and Neil didn't say why. May have been because of Melvin's comments or other info which he didn't share.

I'd take Depeche Mode over anyone though. Any oof Depeche Mode, Blur or Sabbath would be incredible for me.

There were a couple of other possibilities pointed out for Depeche Mode, such as Global Gathering and Creamfields. They could do Hop Farm, not sure how that fits in with their tour dates. Latitude was considered ruled out because they'd be playing two days in a row, but their O2 dates show they're prepared to do that now. The new Glasgow Sessions may be a possibility, some people will consider it a festival, some will consider it a gig.

Is Hop Farm happening?

I'd say they're only doing two nights in a row at the O2 because its in the same country and that's all they were offered. They wont fly back from Europe just to do Latitude. Global Gathering is out for the same reason I think.

Glasgow might be a good shout.
