kev1664
You heard wrong. They were phenomenal at Download. It's not the "old school rockers" they would be for. I'm 27, and Sabbath and System are a huge deal, and enough to get loads of people who I know (including myself) interested in/excited about going back to Reading. If it is Sabbath, it's the best set of headliners since '08. Maybe the new stages are to placate the trendies as the main stage is going to be a bit heavier this year? thetime
They were mediocre at best I thought, decent on their instruments with ozzy struggling a bit on the vocals. for sabbath.
kev1664
I saw ozzy at ozzfest year before download started and it was the same. My opinion though is thats what your going to get, so to to expect anything else your kidding yourself. Bob dylan is the same, your not going to get his voice of the 60s and to expect anything elsebis a bit daft. Thats the reason why ive always loved dylan live, sabbath/ozzy though I wouldnt go out of my way to watch him.
Matt42
It won't be RHCP And all this, Prodigy wouldn't sell it out crap is annoying. Regardless of the third headliner, Eminem will sell the festival out, sorry to say the truth. Someone I know who is going, is going with a group of 20, just for eminem. This group also think that any band with a guitar and a drum is "emo", and think heavy metal is satan music. This person also said that when subfocus were announced she cried, just to put an imagine in your head of the demographic.
the wonderwhy
Eminem will sell out day tickets no problem. There's no way he's strong enough to sell out weekend tickets though. The third needs to be strong, solid band that will go down well with the Radio 1 folk. I think Biffy will be perceived by a lot as the weakest headliner, even though we know that in reality they're not

Gucci Piggy
Eminem won't be more successful than Foo Fighters or Muse at selling out the festival.

Purple_Gorilla
Not sure if it's been brought up before on here, do tell me if it has. I see a lot of talk about The Prodigy or Black Sabbath being the last headliner, they both headlined download last year, Biffy subbed at Download last year. Having a band that subbed Download last year and one that headlined would surely, how do I put it? Weak, in the eyes of others. Not that I'm complaining, I don't like Biffy, but I love The Prodigy and Sabbath, so I'd be happy to see either. But would FR risk it? In my perfect world though, Blur or Pearl Jam would be the last headliner and The Prodigy would sub Eminem or Biffy ( I know, it won't happen in a million years)

Purple_Gorilla
The had MCR headline when they were 3rd on the bill at T in the park the same year, I dont think they care about others past lineup just what is current.

Asdaprice
Pearl Jam would be the best of the rumoured bunch for me. Followed by Sabbath, Prodigy, then Blur. But thats personal taste, Prodigy would be the "weakest" booking. And I really dont think its gonna be Prodigy. Hopefully they sub

the wonderwhy
Yeah, they seem to get bands the year after other fests reasonably often, so it appears they don't really care. I guess that's another reason they like to get exclusives (and also how they go about getting exclusives- by letting everyone else have them first )

Frankly Mr Shankly
It kind of annoys me when a "massive" act is booked & people jump on the "they'll sell out the festival no problem" bandwagon... a festival is about more than just one act & I'm fairly certain Eminem doesn't have the ability to shift over 160,000 weekend tickets at over £200 a go with a line up that isn't suited to his core fan base. I am also yet to hear a convincing argument against RHCP, not saying it will be them by any stretch of the imagination, just that the reasons people use to rule them out are often shite. thesecretingredientiscrime
Well Melvin said when talking about 2007 "we booked the biggest headliner, instead of the best, and that will never happen again." When you look at the other headliners that year, its perfectly clear who he was referring to. Unless Melvin REALLY had faith and a slightly skewed vision of Razorlight. There is also the infamous BBQ of course. Edited February 15, 2013 by thesecretingredientiscrime
