I never said there had to be a link... everybody else seems to have presumed that SOAD were influenced/linked to the band they're subbing & the point I was making was I don't see anymore connection between SOAD & AC/DC than I do

System & Blur, or any other number of bands it could be.

Same reason that it's unlikely to be Linkin Park or Metallica (at the moment) - bands like that won't come to Europe just to play R&L, they'll tie it in with other European festival dates to make it worthwhile. It's still a possibility but every time a European festival makes an announcement that doesn't include one of those bands it gets less and less likely. Of course if one of them does suddenly announce dates or pops up of the line-up for another festival around August it suddenly makes them a real possibility, but until then you're just hoping that they're going to be active without any evidence at all.

Personally, based on not a lot aside from Reading changing direction somewhat, I think the 3rd headliner will be more 'pop' than 'heavy'.

------

Someone is telling me that it's Green Day, based on gossip he's heard from others (who might know, but often don't).

I find it slightly hard to believe, but at the same time don't think it's impossible - tho I've yet to do any checks on it. I will of course be doing some checks.

I think Green Day are easily heavy enough for the R&L crowd to sit above SOAD but are still mainstream/commercial enough to have a wide appeal. They'll be a good headliner as like Foos and Muse they have the ability to appeal to most genres covered by R&L and have a good history/affinity with the festival.

I'll still be very surprised if it is them, partly beause of the Emirates show but mainly because all of their European tour and festival dates finish in mid-July.
