Who is the 3rd headliner likely to be?

I'd be delighted with Green day. Huge fan but I'm not very hopeful seeing as logistically it would make little/no sense. The reasons have been brought up over and over. I remain pessimistic about seeing them. I'm going to the Emirates anyway, but it would be awesome to see them at my favourite festival too.

While they're taking bands from 2001, can we please have Eels, PJ Harvey, The Cult, QOTSA, Frank Black, Trail of the Dead, Bright Eyes, Mogwai, Supergrass, Kosheen and Guided by Voices?

No, I'm not saying that. It's fairly obvious that constantly rebooking older acts from the festivals past not only harms R&L's development, it harms all festivals developments. Unless you book new acts, the pool of acts available for the top of festivals gets smaller and smaller.

It doesn't really help r&l to book acts who played ten years

I think that's a bit simplistic. If they only booked acts that played ten years ago then I'd agree, but there's nothing wrong with mixing old acts with new if those old acts are still popular and will still sell tickets. After all it's not as if R&L doesn't push headliners up, if they decided to dismiss these older bands and only book newer headliners who could sell enough tickets the pool would be pretty small, not financially viable and they'd end up repeating headliners as often as T and V. I'd have thought that it was better for them to have a headliner repeated from 10 years ago than a headliner playing for the third time in six years.

So what bands do we think will help sell the weekend out? I guess Blur and Metallica could help, or obviously if he went for a ridiculous booking like The Who or AC/DC (just to clear, i don't think he's plumped for them 2)

I think it'll be Blur anyway

I was replying specifically to the scenario of Green Day being the last headliner. Of course the mix is ideal, but that wouldn't be a mix. If it was, as rumoured Eminem, SOAD, Green Day and The Prodigy taking four out of the top six, that's not what I'd call a mix, that's four of the top six spots being taken by acts who played twelve and fifteen years ago.
