constantnothing
Just had a thought. Rage Against The Machine got Christmas number one a few years back with "Killing in the name", so they've been at the top of the "Pop" chart. Here's me clinging onto hope, it's bound to be Green Day..
kev1664
If it's green day, that would be the most underwhelming announcement since Biffy. With the whole not so 'secret' show they had at reading last year and all..
Com Truise
Green Day would probably be underwhelming to those who regularly check out forums like this, but to most of the R&L goers, it would be a surprise, not sure how it would go down though. I wouldn't be over the moon, but I wouldn't be that disappointed either, they could do a great set if they played their older stuff, not keen on their recent .. trio
mrtourette
I wouldn't consider Green Day to be underwhelming at all, although I'm of that age where I remember 2004 and have gone through every year since of people being seemingly desperate for them to be announced. dip
They've got a new album coming out and can see them commanding high slots next year. Reckon they might be at Glasto this year based on no actual knowledge. That said, there's much better female fronted bands around that I'd love to see at Reading/Leeds. Evarose, Tonight Alive, Candy Hearts, Tonight Alive...

jump
I'm not thinking they are, just to add. Just questioned it as I couldn't see it but I saw that was a given from their previously announced dates. if they could headline them, they could these. What else could announce them? T/Electric Picnic? Or could just play Uk Dates.
seanthomason123
After seeing them in the tent last year, and as a pretty big fan, I wouldn't want to see Green Day headlining. It would be so underwhelming and their new stuff is absolutely bloody awful. I'd love RATM, RHCP or AC/DC to headline. Would definitely restore some people's faith in Reading as a rock festival, even though the line up is good so far.
thewayiam
I've got no idea what you're trying to say, what previosuly announced dates did they headline? The last time they played UK was as a sub last year.

jump
Sorry, I'm meaning to euro dates they have. Saying that, if they were headlining any of them major one's, I would reckon a major Uk one would be right up there too for them. thewayiam
It doesn't work like that, Black Keys, Phoenix, System, Editors etc are headlining Euro fests but not headlining UK ones.
kev1664
All people seem to want on Facebook is arctic monkey, KOL and other recycled headliners, hell there are calls for the foos back. I mean I love them but I wouldn't want to see a festival repeat like that. Arctic monkeys gave one of the dullest performances I have ever seen at a festival in 09. I went to their own show thinking it was a one off, then they gave that same dull performance at their own show the autum of 09. It just goes to show that people want what's popular and despite what people keep saying about how boring the same bands doing the headline slots at festivals the majority of the audience couldn't care less and would like to see the same bands headline over and over. I'm sure most forget that those bands were once not headliner acts and they had to make the step up at one point.
jump
Know I know, but I'm saying it for Paramore as in the UK they do match upto others they are playing high, like RAR, I think they are fairly high. All of those though have never got to that height here to cover a major festival, one to sell over two sites. The Black Keys are the closest and I feel they are a little way off yet and I feel they may sell out before it happens.

kev1664
You were actually argueing against this logic when the topic was about System.
thewayiam
Neither have Paramore hence why they subbed R&L last year and that wouldn't change if they headline a French, German or whatever fest. The problem with going if they headline a fest in europe they can headline R&L means fuck all as it's not in the UK and R&L is geared toward the UK audience. You were actually argueing against this logic when the topic was about System. Haven't The Black Keys already been accused of selling out? jump
I wasn't trying to say they were going to headline. Only asked had they even played together.
