Who is the 3rd headliner likely to be?

I don't care about them existing. My original post was that I'd prefer the 3rd headliner not to be someone shit. It's no different to you calling Keane garbage in another thread. I'm entitled to call Green Day shit, and I'm entitled to justify it.

Not going to get into the political argument in this forum, there's plenty of threads over in discussions explaining why that's foolish.

And I'm not pissy, I'm a self-righteous tosser. There's a difference :P

I think the ridiculously cheesy attempts at being political show they were trying to be something more than what they are.

And most of these things aren't down to opinion. Sales aren't the only objective thing. I can objectively state that no band has had a greater influence on modern music than Talking Heads in the last 60 years. I can objectively state that Nirvana weren't the first grunge band. I can objectively state that Green Day produce mainstream guitar music branded as punk to increase sales.

They do what they do well, I'm fine with that. I don't object to Green Day existing, or being popular. I just object to the idea that I am not allowed to slag them off on an internet forum, just because other people on it like them.

But I didn't say "The only way a band isn't garbage is if they do something new or do something better than others who have done the same"

But whatever, I don't want to get into a drawn out argument as to why you're wrong and I'm sure you don't want to get into one as to why you're right.

You can't objectively state any of those things. The Talking Heads point is only possible to work out if you asked every band ever who their influences are, dead or alive. You can't just guess these things and call them fact. It may be slightly easier to state that Nirvana weren't the first grunge band, though a null hypothesis is always easier to state, and it's a matter of opinion exactly what grunge is. It's highly doubtful that any famous band was the first of their genre, and it's hard to state exactly who was the first of any genre- they don't just spring out of the ground, there are grey areas and slow evolutions of sound. Every band sounds different, we just group them how we see fit. You can't objectively state Green Day's music is mainstream, as it isn't something that's black and white, it's a gray area. 1D are more mainstream than Green Day, Green Day are more mainstream than Nick Cave, Nick Cave is more mainstream than Anal c**t, and so on. The guitar music point is the only one that can be objectively stated, as they use guitars in their music.

I've got no problem with you slagging off a band, just don't act as if your opinion is the be all end all. It's an opinion, and it's got about as much weight as any one else's lone opinion- fuck all, so don't act as if it's anything more.
