thesecretingredientiscrime
Nme awards are a bigger joke than the brits. Johnny marr godlike genius? Outstanding contribution to music - the cribs?
mrtourette
I find it very suspicious that he could have been given it any year since The Smiths (let's face it, that's what he's getting it for) but got it this year, which just happens to fall in the same week that his solo album is released. Chrisl2510
David Bowie should be the third headliner! But he won't...damn.
thetime
Do you not agree with JM being godlike genius?
kaosmark2
Nope. If it was for the smiths yes, whats he done since the smiths? Not alot. Look at the output of morrissey since the smiths, now that mans a genius. Does just being part of the smiths make him a genius? Thats another debate. thetime
I'd argue the inverse. Morrissey's put out a load of w*nk solo albums, while Marr has had major contributions to excellent albums by Modest Mouse and The The, as well as guested on lots of work for other bands. dart
Would argue on morrisseys output being w*nk, think its brilliant personally. Hes just a bit of a wally.
dart
My two cents, not that is means much, Marr is brilliant, but Moz is godly.
kaosmark2
Wrong on so many levels. Morrissey's solo work is far from w*nk & It's certainly far superior to anything Marr has done. I also find it amusing that people automatically assume Morrissey is the difficult one to get along with, yet Marr has fluttered from pillar to post throughout his career, which says a lot about him in my opinion. Very similar to the situation with Axl & Slash in that respect.
thesecretingredientiscrime
It's hardly just assuming Morrissey is hard to get along with, virtually every piece of serious/well respected Smiths writing shows it was that way. It doesn't take anything away from him though.

dart
Quite unlikely, but a return to R&L from Moz would always be very very welcome from me.

dart
Any festival would get rid of all meat products for the smiths, they would be the single biggest draw possible, people would literally come from all over the world and cut off their left bollock to see them

Frankly Mr Shankly
Coachella offered a meat free festival if Morrissey & Marr agreed to headline. I personally don't see it as an issue though, Morrissey headlines festivals all over the world & meat products are still sold.
