Who is the 3rd headliner likely to be?

When you compare it to other fests, it has substantially less additional entertainment. The point I was objecting to was the "getting pissed in a field". R&L has to keep up with trends. Is it doing it with these three headliners? I don't think so. You can blame recession etc. which obviously does have an effect but I think lineups have been poor in recent years and have to be looked at with regards to bad sales.

With regards to your second point, even the most ardent NIN fanboys on here accept they will get a very small crowd.

I don't want to write the festival off just yet, but its not looking great, especially off those three.

For me Green Day-Eminem-Biffy Clyro is a totally naff set of headliners, and I definitely wouldn't shell out for a ticket. That's obviously just my opinion though.

I can see those three being popular across a wide audience though, so the trio sort of makes sense from a business point of view. What's potentially holding it back is that's there's been plenty of opportunities for people to see Biffy (for a decent price too) this year, an opportunity to see Green Day, and Eminem headlined the biggest rival only 2 years ago (and will probably have a very similar setlist). I don't think that'll be too much of a problem though, there will still be plenty of people out there who want tickets.

Every Leeds I've been to (not a lot that being said) has had the same kind of formula I guess. One Up and coming/established act given a tremendous opportunity (Arcade Fire, Kasabian, My Chemical Romance), a guitar band to please the masses (Blink 182, Muse, Foo Fighters) and a nostalgia act (Guns n' Roses, The Cure, Pulp). We already have our nostalgia (Eminem, but could be to please the masses too I suppose), and a band being given a fantastic opportunity (Biffy Clyro).

Biffy have headlined Sonisphere, but this is a step up.

Green Day - Eminem - Biffy is a lot better than some of the past headliners.

I think that would be a massive draw, whether people like it or not, Green Day are still a big band, simply because of the success they've had over the years. Eminem has sold so many records it ridiculous so many people will still be wanting to watch him, who have not had the chance to do so. Biffy are definitely on rise in popularity so there a good headliner to pull up. I cant wait for monday, be interesting to see what the line up is actually like.

I'd prefer a smaller act that wanted to put a blinding show to convince everyone myself! It's not always about the biggest acts in the land!

Green Day would be cool, I suspect maybe after the secret set last year...and it is only the one London date as people during exam time so yeah...I could see it and them selling reasonably well.

To be honest thinking now, what the formula should be like is current arena seller, up and comer, and established oldie. The ones labelled as guitar are more the current arena sellers, and the e's are the established oldies.

But yes they are all guitar bands, just meant the ones which are stadium rock esque - focused on guitar or riffs or whatnot
