I know what you mean alex about seeing one of "your bands" get huge.

I first saw biffy in a tiny venue that wasn't even a quarter full, must of been about 50 people.

Met the guys afterwards and they signed a copy of thekidswhopoptodaywillrocktomorrow that they were selling on a shitty little merch stand out of a suitcase haha.

Seen them on every tour since, most multiple times. However I won't be going on this tour as I can't stand arena gigs. Saw them in Leeds at the o2 academy mind.

Hence while ill happily pay £95 to see them headline my hometown fest.

Biffy can't have the two hour slot surely. that'll go to either Eminem or (most likely) the third headliner (Sabbath). he probably just means it's long as in it's a headline sized set. why would Biffy be given a special long set!?

Yeah all three bands got longer than the standard 90 minutes last year, and in 2011 The Strokes played 75 minutes. There is no longer necessarily "the two-hour slot", and it could be that again all headliners get longer than what has always been considered the normal set length.

Yep and while Biffy are only just headliners now , it's not like they don't have the back catalogue to fill a longer set if they wanted to. It might be one way FR is trying to position Reading and Leeds as different to other fests by getting a reputation for having the longer headline sets.

Yeah I think they've scrapped that whole only one band gets two hours thing.

Both foos and the cure got a little over 2hours30.

I think their tact is now to offer the band a headline slot and ask how much time they want. It makes sense as they have to book one less act lower down the bill and allows those near the top longer set times.

The Cure managed to do 33 songs at Leeds last year! Biffy will never match that.

I could see all 3 headliners unless it was Blur getting the 1 hour and a half. Eminem did that at V, no need for R&L to give more or for him to do more. Biffy the same and The Prodigy/Sabbath for eg the same. I don't recall Sabbath getting more at Download.

Pearl jam was 2 hours and abit as far as I recall.

Biffy could match 33 songs too, if they wanted. They played just over an hour and a half at soni and that came to 23 songs. Most of their songs are about 4 mins remember so if they played for say 2 hours 15 mins, you will have your 33.

Who knows though, it's gonna be long and it's gonna be sweet. It'll have a lot of sing along and mosh pit moments. That's all that really matters

IMO Blur are more likely to get more than a 1 & 1/2 hour than Biffy.

I agree. That's my point. Unless it's was say Blur, I can't see any of the other rumored getting it, which would make for one more band and IMO make Deftones and Foals looks a little weak at 3rd. I think it'd make FOB right at 3rd just, they sell enough tickets for it. But if it's Sabbath or The Prodigy you are going to have a fair few from both sides that say either one make the 3 together look weak when in reality it's Biffy Clyro although deserved, heading instead of subbing that'd make it look weak.

I think with all the changes going on at Leeds they will be marketing differently, and those wanting longer will get it.

I can easily see a 2hr biffy set.

I see eminem as a take the money and run type if guy so he will do the bare minimum 90 mins.

If its sabbath or prodigy, much like download last year I can barely see them making the 90 minutes.

If its someone like Metallica or blur the I can see them doing 2hr +

At V Eminem did 26 songs so thats more than enough. I wouldnt call him "take the money and run"

Yeah at T he did medleys which squeezed in 3/4 of his older hits into one slightly long song, was a bit disappointing.
