dip
Yeah sounds like the Oceansize break up wasn't that friendly... read an interview with Mike where he pretty much slated some of the other members of the band for them just getting wasted and not putting on the best performance they could... he said Biffy are the complete opposite. I have to say every time I saw Oceansize live I thought Mike was brilliant but the other members could have either very good or very bad days. In fact the first time I saw them was a pretty terrible gig except for a few of the songs... the other times were pretty great though. eFestivals
Biffy Clyro are a three piece at their core but have Mike Vennart and Gambler from Oceansize/British Theatre for live shows. Mike does guitar, Gambler does keys. This hasn't changed.I still think that it might have done, tho it might be since you interviewed them. I don't want to go into details tho. eFestivals
I'd be surprised if either of them has changed tbh and I hope they haven't as they really make a huge difference to the live shows. something which put me on the case as Biffy being the R/L headliner included info about someone having "just joined the band".While that could be wrong, I strongly suspect that it's not. dip
Gambler has only been with them since last June? and that was only for the few shows they did, so could well been seen as a recent addition.

I don't really know anything more than I've said.
dip
Oh, hang on. He replaced Mike for their live shows in June then joined as a touring fifth member for their November/December tour which didn't touch the UK. Was never officially announced either. jump
It's probably Dave Grohl, he must have been in every other band by now....

mungo57
slightly off topic but what do people think of Opposites? Just gave it a first listen and I can say I am still impressed by them even if they are a completely different band nowadays! At least I can say I have seen them on every album tour and have got the chance to hear all the great old songs that noone will get to hear anymore sadly
jump
I think Opposites is pretty decent, not quite the "amazing" album alot of people were saying. It's probably one of the few or only double albums I've heard in recent years that isn't too long/shit aswell.
LondonTom
I really like Oceansize but he did look a bit out of place with Biffy, when you saw them live it looked like Biffy Clyro and an accountant. dentalplan
Just finished listening to Opposites and was actually quite impressed as I really didn't like Only Revolutions. While it's not back to the sound of old Biffy, it's like a development on OR that's of a better standard IMO. Plus I'm a sucker for grandiose double albums (if I told you my preferred Beatles, Pink Floyd and Smashing Pumpkins albums it'd be obvious). Would love to see Opposites live in full though. Not sure how this album is gonna be received but they deserve their step up, in my mind. Also, it's pointed out on the Youtube video I listened to it on how much Pocket sounds like the song David Brent sings in The Office; Free Love Freeway. Quite funny. lightning1000
Yeah the first time you spot him at a Biffy gig, it does look a bit odd Mhmm on the extra personnel, I think I've read they have been wanting to do more of the extra bits on the songs live than using a backing track. (Hence the Gambler, but maybe they felt they needed someone else to, especially if they are getting a headline slot). My opposites boxset won't be arriving until tomorrow If it goes up on spottily I might give in and listen before I get it

dip
posted this earlier but I think the following. http://justdip.co.uk/2013/01/23/review-biffy-clyro-opposites/ There's also a live review from their December tour, if you fancy it. http://justdip.co.uk/2012/12/05/live-biffy-clyro-2/
lightning1000
Having listened to it few times and given it some thought, id say its probably my 2nd favorite behind vertigo. I think they've found that balance between the invention of the 1st 3 albums and the commercial sound of the last 2.

festyfort
It may not be one of the best songs on the album, but I really like the ending of spanish radio
