haven't soad in the uk only headlined download back in 2005? A festival that is not as big as reading and leeds.

As for fatm, they were a huge booking to play 3rd, after it seemed like v had got them too. Neil seemed to also think that them headlining wasn't impossible but i think people noted the arena tour possibly a bit late or not in the right place? Something like that.

But also to add, liking them or not. Paramore are a huge, massive ticket seller and it won't be long but yes still sub.

It's nowhere near black and white as that. There's acts like Prodigy that yo-yo between headliners and subs, acts on the way down, acts on the way up, acts that will sub bigger fests like Glasto but play lower at R&L and vice versa etc

Soad have bigger fan bases throughout Europe, aus and America.

don't quote me on this but a while back I'm sure Neil on here, and again it may've been misread for the group of bands in question. But i remember him laughing at the possibility of the prodigy headlining reading and leeds. I'm still personally on the fence.

They have sold out mk bowl but its a 65k venue, as far as I'm aware, thats just bigger than Soni was? Not saying they couldn't played that bigger gig but this is say 70/80 k on top. Leaving room for people to attend other stage headers

i know, and yes i missed that one but it was 2011. download is not as big as reading and leads. There is a 60k difference between the two.

This has ensured I make my Leeds debut! Download set dark???? if you need flashing lights why not try Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex or any of the other mobile discos that are doing the circuit just now. SOAD were awesome at Download.

I reckon it was perfect being dark(for most if the set) and that a simple light show can be just as effective (see the cure last year) as full on visual display (see metallica 2008).

The strobes go well with the heavier parts of the songs and the lights moving round the stage and the crowd goes well with the more mellow parts.

Im gunna say a bit on this whole SOAD/Paramore/FATM debate.

Download is the bigger fest now if you were to compare it to Reading on its own or Leeds on its own, but they sell it to bands as a package. Im sure however that SOAD would be getting more money and a bigger crowd at Download compared to one of Reading or Leeds.

Now Paramore, they're an act on the way out. The two guys who left and said its just a Hayley group with he record company giving her a band damaged the Paramore brand badly, that and the fact Paramore get worse every album, they are NEVER going to be a headlining act in the UK.

Copping has gone on to state that they are now 2nd stage headliners or subs for him at Download too, when in the past it was questioned could they headline.

System haven't played here in years, theres gunna be a lot of people who haven't had the chance to see them, meanwhile Paramore and Flo tour a lot. That immediatly makes them a bigger draw. The whole lack of exclusivity of Systems booking though raises questions, I wonder where else they're gunna play, because that could bring the whole thing back in line.

Flo, however is still riding high and will continue to, she could headline festivals in the future and in the UK at least is the biggest of the three in terms of who will sell tickets. With System behind then Paramore last. Paramore I predict will drop from arenas down the academys their next tour.

Admittedly, I said I'd buy my ticket last night if FOB were announced. I didn't even end up waiting for them as I was on it as soon as SOAD were announced!

I know their tour dates were setting up perfectly for R&L, but I was still fairly surprised when I heard them mentioned on Radio 1.

I would nail that ginger girl in an instant and a few of their songs are a bit of a guilty pleasure for me BUT comparing them to SOAD is a joke. There's a gulf in credibility, ability and size on the world stage. SOAD were pioneers of their genre and have iconic songs that most music fans know even if they don't appreciate them. Paramore sing teen angst songs to teenagers and the lead singer gets her tits out on twitter. There is the comparison. Florence is doing well now and is ok but still not in the same league as SOAD. She might well last to as many albums as them but I suspect people will be sick of her wailing by then.
