~ ~ ~ TENTH ANNIVERSARY ~ ~ ~

I almost forgot to start the annual thread seeing as I hadn't bought tix at the end of December or beginning of January like I usually do ... mostly because I'd actually bought them BEFORE the 2012 festival had even kicked off mind you ! Anyway, yup, CRF breaks into double figures this year as 2013 is the 10th anniversary of the first Rockinbeerfest held at Huntingdon Racecourse during the summer monsoon season of 2004. Following a couple of venue changes along the way as the festival grew in size, Rockinbeerfest became known as the Cambridge Rock Festival in 2007 and moved to the current site in 2009. A great long weekend of classic rock, metal, prog and blues along with punk, folk rock, tribute bands and acoustic sessions amongst other stuff to add a bit of variety to the mix.

CRF 2013 will take place on 1st - 4th August at the excellent Haggis Farm venue again which is around 3 miles from Cambridge city centre and rail station, 30 minutes from Stanstead Airport and just a couple of hundred metres from Junction 12 of the M11. Last year's festival featured over 100 bands across 3 stages, an arts and crafts marquee, children's entertainment, a good variety of food, craft and record stalls as well as more than 70 different real ales from a variety of UK breweries plus keg beer/lager and various cider, perry, wine and soft drinks being served in the well stocked bars. The Main and Second Stage are both all-weather stages in massive marquees, each with it's own bar, with at least one smaller outdoor and/or partly covered stage running between artistes on the Main and Second Stages. So no matter what Mr.Weather decides to chuck at us on the day, a great time is pretty much guaranteed and mud will almost certainly be in fairly short supply as per usual ! An after hours bar and acoustic stage is available for those happy campers who are not ready to call it a night when the festival stages close at around midnight. Dogs are also welcome providing that they're kept on a string lead and well looked after by their owners of course. Camping is on a large flat field and you can park your car/bike next to your tent rather than it being a several mile muddy hike away ! Water, showers, toilets and Elsan disposal are available on site but fires and glass are not permitted because the site will be home to horses and other livestock after the festival. The CRF 2013 line-up is yet to be officially revealed but rumour has it that an announcement is imminent so watch this space and all that :D

Complete ticket information and prices are available HERE and the Booking/P&P Fee for any number of tickets is just £2.50 per order. Ticket prices start from only £79 for a Full Festival Supersaver adult ticket providing entry to all 4 days of the Festival. Camping tickets start from £30 with caravan/camper tickets from £60. Individual day or evening tickets and U16 tickets etc. are also available if required. If you live in or around Cambridge or perhaps just fancy a weekend break in the area then please also check out the local gigs (generally at Haddenham or Newmarket) for a variety of gigs taking place in the run up to CRF 2013 and also the CRF Springfest in April 2013 to get your festival season off to a good start.

There's not really anything more to say about CRF 2013 just now but much more info including any good rumours and self-confirmations or sneaky details of any new stuff will get posted below in due course. Full details of the official confirmed line-up will also be added at the bottom of this post as usual for quick 'n' easy reference just as soon as sufficient confirmed information is available. Until then, please take a wander over to The Official CRF Website for full details about this great family-friendly festival which is celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year and of course for all the very latest news as the clock counts down to August.

NEWS: Line-Up to be released via the Official CRF Website on Friday 1st March.

Look out for the shiny new CRF Radio button to click on which will not only reveal the Line-Up to date but will also be bringing the festival to a PC near you 24/7 while we wait for the gates to open in August !

Although initially still in the testing stage, expect the fully PRS/PPL licensed CRF Radio to be featuring music from past festivals as well as from bands coming up this year along with all the very latest festival news just as soon as it's available. CRF Radio will also apparently be featuring up and coming bands giving you the opportunity to vote for them getting a slot at the festival.

Super Saver Tickets will be withdrawn when the Line-Up is officially released and be replaced with Early Bird Tickets so there's just a few days left to save yourself a few quid by grabbing your tickets now. Tickets for the festival, all of the local gigs and CRF Springfest can be purchased from the Official CRF Website HERE.

Here's a few more bands to add to the self confirm and rumours list:

Pearl Handled Revolver - Sat 3rd Aug, self confirm HERE

Quireboys - Saturday 3rd August, rumour HERE

Pat McManus Band - Saturday 3rd August, rumour, HERE

Animals - Sunday 4th August, self confirm HERE

Fred's House - unknown day, self confirm HERE

Ah-ha, so it very much looks like there will be a New Orleans house that will ruin many poor boys and all that on Sunday before we gotta get out of the place for this year. Exxxxxxcellent :D, bring on the ruining I say ... as if I'm not generally ruined enough by Sunday :P
