I just thought I'd start a thread on people's views on Pearl Jam headlining, especially with the announcement of an album coming out in 2013 which could make them more likely. I think they've played with SOAD before as well, correct me if I'm wrong though haha. Still think other rumours like Blur or Sabbath are more likely but still.

Pearl Jam would be incredible would be a suitable headliner above SOAD, yet it would still be diverse enough to draw in more people than Rage/SOAD would.

Tried to look for them playing somewhere with SOAD but I couldn't find anything, anyone?

This news has only just surfaced with the NME? I thought it had been widely known that their next album was out this year, and that's why it was constantly suggested in the lineup thread, and also why they were so strongly tipped for Download.

Anyway, as much as I'd enjoy it, I can't see it happening at all. They're not the type of band to jet over for just one festival.

I'd agree more popular, but I'm saying the same people who'd go to see would Rage would be the ones who'd go to see SOAD if you get me? I think Pearl would bring different people and because of their status, maybe sell more tickets?

The Rage hype has kind of died down too, if they were to release new material then that might change

Remember Pearl Jam were announced for Download this year by Vodafone, then Andy [Download's booker] said that Vodafone were told they were close to playing but in the end they decided to tour later in the summer so Download couldn't book them.

Not exactly many festivals left, unless they're doing a tour, or just scrapped the idea of touring altogether

I would LOVE Pearl Jam to headline... I saw them in Manchester last year and they were superb... Such a well polished group and put on a brilliant show (up there with Foo's and Metallica).

Big group, Good music, performed well... Can't really ask for more.
