Just found a new word. Got me thinking ........

What's your favourite word?

Mine tended to fluctuate but has now settled on haberdashery. This will be a temporary but happy partnership.

As an aside the new word I found which prompted this post I have now forgotten. I thought I'd saved it but hadn't. Bit of a shame because I really wanted to share it with you. As some sort of recompense I offer you the word 'Clagnuts'. I hadn't known of it's existence until I was in a relatives house. I stood there and heard my uncle say ' look at the clagnuts on his arse' whilst referring to his own dog. I looked at said dog and realised my uncle was talking about the bits of shit stuck to the dogs arse hairs, I'm still trying to work it all out!

Together.

it reminds me of an acid trip - this word popped into my mind, and I seemed to feel my brain processing it on many different levels. And then I concluded that it's the most important world in the English language. If not the most vital human concept/adaptive strategy.

I have a word that really irritates - well.

Whenever reporters are interviewed in two-ways (the reporter at the scene talking to a studio anchor) the reporter nearly always begins the response with: "Well...."

It's almost like a mechanical kick start to get the response going but is completely meaningless. Watch a few news programmes and look out for the 'Wells'

because we compete in a tribal way for resources, instead of sharing it out as a species. Cooperastion and competition have both been successful evolutionary strategies, group effort produces better results as it makes us less vulnerable to predators, able to combine forces to hunt/forage/work etc.

But it's led to in-group/out-group competition - racism, prejudice, discrimination and inequality, as we pursue social or nationalistic goals depending on our group identity..

I've lived in Wales more than half my life, although born in England and have adopted the country to the point when Wales play England at rugby I cheer for Wales.

However I've never got to speak the Welsh language and to my shame only know a smattering of Welsh.

But my favourite Welsh word is 'caws' - pronounced kouse, a bit like scouse - which is Welsh for cheese.

I remember it because 'caws' or cheese comes from cows.
