So, to clarify, is it that Bad Company do not have enough material, full stop? Or, that they don`t have enough material to please the average Download goer that would only know two or three hits? Because you appear to have changed your point since your previous posting. If it`s the latter, then yes, I would agree, simply because of the lack of familiarity towards them by the majority, including yourself, is a good reason not to play. However, I fully disagree with the former, because they have a whole back-catalogue of classics to claw from ....just not suitable for Download.

Although, I do find it hard to believe that after seeing them at Sweden Rock, you think they have this lack of material to choose from, even if you were alien to most of the selection played. You are correct in stating, however, that the Sweden Rock show (a show I was coincidentally at, as well,) didn`t feature any Free material, which was unusual.

It was The Joe Perry Project that had the 50 minute slot, as special guests to Bad Company, my recollection of the Classic Rock review stated this, and I would agree, because it was 50 minutes of pure tedium. Perhaps this, along with a little bit of pig-ignorance, is why you are so confused?

Edit...

Actually, another Bad Company song the Download demographic may know, it that shitty cover they do the the 5FDP classic. :haha::bye:

So you know more about Bad Company than somebody else, would you like a gold star? I very much doubt the majority of Download attendees would be that bothered about Bad Company playing, or about them in general, so the lack of knowledge by some, in a forum dedicated to the festival, is hardly surprising. I'm guessing, judging by your posts and your user name (and this is just an assumption, I apologise if I'm wrong), that you're of a more mature age. Maybe now's the time to start acting it? ;)

Couldn't have put it better myself mate, well said.

Always thought the whole point of a festival is getting to check out bands you know very little about as well as those you do. If everyone at download was like a metal rain man it would be a pretty shit festival!

Now, back on topic... When is the next freaking announcement!!!

I think the Pumpkins could be a shout, not as big as they used to be, not headlining every fest they're playing (I'm going hurricane and they're def not headlining the main stage there). I'd say they'd be a good alternative for people who don't like slipknot.

I'm pretty sure I remember Andy making some sort of comment a couple of years back on the Download board about Billy thinking it's still 1997 & demanding huge slots at festivals.

Of course this could have changed over time, but I doubt they'll play Download this year & I doubt Billy would accept second stage. I Could see them subbing someone huge that they respect in the future perhaps, like Soundgarden did for Sabbath.

Perhaps if it was billed as part of the Oceania tour and not promoted as a greatest hits/siamese dream anniversary show then Billy would accept a smaller slot.

Corgan seems to be aware that his stock has dropped of late, they sell less records and play smaller venues at the moment and they dont try to book wembley arena or Birmingham NEC anymore.

Also worth noting that Billy ego didn't get in the way when he accepted lower slots at festivals with Zwan.

Pumpkins would be ace, I remember when I was a teenager, Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream were never far away from the cd player.

The Manachester date is sold out I think, gutted. So if Billy's ego did allow him to accept 2nd stage headliner, that would be fine and dandy!
