foffi
For those that bought their emperors tickets at the time of release, I understand from the general info pack online that there's a separate one sent out relating to emperors? Can anyone tell me if there's anything terribly exciting that I should know from this? As we got our tickets from individual sellers recently so won't be getting one. ramragon
Morning all, my sister is going and she wanted to know if any plugs for her hair dryer near showers (stopping in emperor field) , as you can see it won't bother me.

And can any previous KC goers give me an idea of how the site responds to excess water!? Significant amounts of rain is looking like a possibility! Cheers! ramragon
Morning guys, first time visitor... Anybody got any advice on which general camping area to use (ie camp 5 or 6). Getting there Thursday, and was just wondering if anyone knows if either is better (flatter etc?) Cheers!
jamj
We're in emperors and I haven't had any separate email about it - the info email suggests there is another one been sent out but it's not clear whether or not that refers to Campervan/LIV's. Just spotted that emperors have a kids breakfast club, and so far I've gleaned we get one free phone charge (doesn't say how long), free showers, pootopia (as does general this year), closer parking, more space, separate entrance.....and that's as much as I've read about so far. Not sure whether to take our trolley or whether we'll be ok carrying gear from car to pitch in emperors, haven't got a huge amount - but maybe 3 trips as opposed to one with the trolley - anyone? We were in general last year, arrived at 9 on Fri and parked really close to main gate (left at 8am on the Mon and were away within 5 mins), but we queued for almost 3 hours to get in, However they have said there'll be more gates and ticket scanners to speed this up this year so might not be too bad, they thoroughly searched our bags and took any glass off people, as well as alcohol off the young 'uns - I seen lemonade bottles with the seal broken being sniffed and confiscated. There was also a dog on the gates day 1.
sloaney007
There are fields for quiet camping, general camping or families. It depends which of the options suits you as to where you camp, however there will be stewards advising you on the gates where to head for what you require
foffi
Foffi, sent you the email I recieved, not sure if thats the one you need
jamj
agree - don't think there is an emperors specific email. Just also read on the FB page that emperors car park is literally minutes walk from the tents, hoping to get close enough to car and leave the trolley at home
foffi
There is this one from last year, but it's not very exciting http://www.wearecalling.com/Emperors_Field_Welcome_Pack.pdf

ramragon
I'll second what Mick says, you're talking about 100 metres tops to walk to the car and where you're camped, it was a thin road dividing car park and campsite last year. No hassle at all, no need for a trolley if you're in emperors
midnighttuck
hmmm....with our general tickets, I'm leaning towards heading in the 'quiet' area....or the family area if allowed (won't have kids with us, passed them off to their granny for a few days ). Just wondering, is that area on a lower or higher end of a slope, the deeper the swimming pool might be if thats the case
ramragon
I would head to the quiet area rather than family field, especially if theres no kids going with you. The people who want to make noise and party will head for general camping so you'll have peace and quiet. If theres limited space in the family field and your camped there without one you run the risk of getting some abuse from disgruntled families who cant get in ! You should be able to tell where the high and low points of the fields are when you get in them, theres ups and downs all over
midnighttuck
fair point about obv taking needed spaces....oh well - if its all uneven anyways then guess it'll be nigh on impossible to find a high ground spot. Thought perhaps it was one long sloping field. Guess I should try and keep most things in the car for the sake of keeping stuff dry if we expect to be swimming in the stuff By way of drinks.....how many do you lot generally take to the campsite with you? As it just says a 'reasonable amount' allowed.....was thinking perhaps taking (for 2 adults), around 20 cans, some pops and some spirit bottle (transferred to a plastic bottle of course)....to last the weekend from Thurs onwards, but maybe leave some of that/more in the car to get as and when needed
viberunner
There was also a dog on the gates day 1. Was there a barker going through cars or was it mainly the General Camping bods?
ramragon
You can take way more than that fella, they probably dont want you and the missus tipping up with 10 crates each, suppose it depends how much you normally drink and how drunk you want to get ! ramragon
Ive got 30 strongbow, 15 lager and a couple of box wines. Cant see us getting through it all with us having a baby, just enough to be sociable if people drop by ! Plus im off for another week after the festival and were at a cottage so itll get supped eventually.
midnighttuck
fair dos - I'll grab a load more then I do plan to spend 'most' of the time in the main areas, getting plenty drinks while out and about, rather than returning back to the tent often.....but then....with it being a 'small' venue, maybe it might be practical to do that, as other festivals take ages getting back and forth.....so yeah - guess I should at least double that number

jamj
I only seen the dog on the Fri at main entry into festival (general), don't know how long it was there though, we didn't go back out to car until Sat teatime, it wasn't there then. ramragon
Dogs are a right nuisance. The campsite entrance, or arena one? A mate (really...) would be interested in this info! Anone know what kind of stuff the wee shop sells? I'm sure I read someone say they sell fruit juice and stuff which would be ideal, would save taking stuff like that down. Mr_Grump
What is it with drugs? Dont some people know how to have a good time without being off their heads? There is a time and place, and in my opinion, its not at a 'family friendly' festival. Call me an old fart, but I dont give a flying f__k...I just hope the cocker spaniel has a field day. gf1874
Dosage is all. Like alcohol, lots of drinking, several bars, but people should be drinking to the merryish stage rather than the wrestling lampposts / hailing ambulances-as-taxi-cabs stage. Same with other stuff. Selfish stupid and dangerous to be having a high-dose acid trip in the playpark Saturday morning, but on the other hand it shouldn't harm the wains if a few dirty ravers chew down the jive crumbs in the Glow Tent at midnight. LOCHLAND5
Personally, I'm going to take a couple of green Rolex', wash them down with a bottle of El Dorado, 3 grams of coke and a couple of tokes of a crack pipe before setting fire to the main stage trying to cook up heroin on a novelty sized tablespoon.
