kaosmark2
Anyone able to advise on some simplish songs I can learn to help me get the hang of guitar chord changes? I'm still very shit but I'm bored of just attempting to play them without songs as context. What songs did other people learn with? Recommendations? Ovechkin
I recently picked up guitar for the first time in over ten years and basically had to begin from step 1 again. I used this online course and its songbook, it covers the basic chords and techniques. http://www.justinguitar.com/en/BC-000-BeginnersCourse.php http://www.justinguitar.com/en/BS-000-BeginnersSongbook.php Here's a great channel for fingerstyle arrangements, i really like this guy and he deserves more views: http://www.youtube.com/user/LickNRiff?feature=g-high-u
BlackHole2006
Hey, When I first taught myself how to play guitar I learned it through tabs on Ultimate Guitar: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com Really useful website, just search up your favorite band and there should be a few tabs from that band on there. EDIT: If you keep at it, then be prepared for it to take over your life and for playing it to be the only thing you ever think about. eFestivals
That's Entertainment by The Jam - a song that just about any starter can get to sound something like the record.
t8yman
House of the rising Sun. First song I ever learned, gives you great practice changing between A, C, G and D (I think it was), and is also great for practicing the picking of said chords. I havent played properly for about 20 years, but I can still play that now.
windy_miller
Yep, House Of The Rising Sun should be the first thing everyone leans to play.

Guest
Choose a song you like, something that doesn't sound too difficult, then search for the song on youtube with the word 'guitar' after it, and there'll be a choice of tutorials (usually). Get the tab for it as well, and just plug away, note by note if necessary, and you'll get there. Playing a song you like is such a moral booster. Steve P
Honkey Tonk woman - G C A D verse and G D G chorus. Nice on to strum to Caught by the river by Doves - AGDA that's it for the entire song. A couple that we're doing at Joefest this year that are relatively easy
