the wonderwhy
Definitely see him subbing Eminem now, im not a huge fan but he was really good at reading 2010
Yellow_Fellow
They won't have two hip-hop/rap acts taking up the top two spots on the mainstage they first year they're introducing a stage specifically for that genre.

thesecretingredientiscrime
Because it would defeat the point of the new stage that night. Edited March 3, 2013 by thesecretingredientiscrime

the wonderwhy
No it wouldn't. As we've discussed before, the point of the new stage is to bring in new crowd, and they're not going to be attracted by a handful of midbilling acts on one stage. There won't be a reduction in the number of acts like that because of the new stage, there's been several instances in recent years where acts of similar genres play against each other. You're also forgetting Eminem and Dizzee are about as far away from the type of stuff on 1xtra stage, as SOAD are from Nickleback. There's very little overlap. the wonderwhy
And how do you know that? Fair enough if that's your opinion but right now its merely conjecture, there is no evidence to completely rule out Eminem and Dizzee playing on the same night I get what you're trying to say, might seem a bit strange having 2 big hip hop acts but you can't just rule it out like that
Luke Routledge
You guys really think he will sub? He is about 4th down on the T lineup and thats his target audience

mrtourette
The point MattDavies makes is comepletey vaild, although I don't think it's anything to do with the new stages. It's an indie rock festival, they're unlikely to give three hours at the end of the night on the flagship and most prominent stage over to genre/s that aren't it's standard fare, regardless of what's on the other stages. They've shown before that they aren't particularly bothered about subs flowing logically into headliners so why would they suddenly be so desperate to have a chart rap/hip hop going into a chart rap/hip hop act and risk compeltely alienating those who aren't into a marginal R&L genre from the entire end to the night on their main stage? If he subs I think Dizzee is far more likely to sub Biffy.
Luke Routledge
I dont think its impossible to have him as NME headliner. He would go great against someone a bit heavier and as someone mention he is a R&L favourite. If he is doing the rounds then doesnt that mean he is more likely to go to down the lineup? Bisque
He played smaller festivals as a headliner last year so has done "the rounds" already. Drew a mammoth crowd in 2010.
