i would say leeds is best.

well laid out, nicer people (prefer northerners), easy to get to, bus to tescos, and theres plenty of wetherspoons for a breakfast on the monday morning in leeds!!

and late night entertainment is a huge bonus.

erm ... in general terms, Reading is the easier to get to - it's closer to train stations and the like. There's no need for a bus to tescos or anywhere else, and they have pubs that do breaksfasts in cities down south too.
