Leeds' late night entertainment goes on til 6am. Silent disco goes on til 4 and relentless tent til 3/4 too. Definitely a bonus if you want a bit more than just the bands, when you have a whole 'village' full of rave tents etc. but then Reading does get the special guest appearances and tv coverage so both have their good points.

I'm usually too knackered after an entire day of running between stages to do anything at night. I think I've been to the silent disco and funfair once in my 7 years.. We'd rather just get back to the tent, have some drinks and put some music on and chat bollocks til we fall asleep.

Iv never found myself getting bored at nights at Reading and iv never been in the silent disco either. I normally have enough fun chatting shit to strangers and my mates. Tho during the day on the Thursday can get abit boring, could do with something then.

Although I prefer northerners, they're friendly, the food is better, they have better football teams(even though I'm a Watford fan) and both my parents are northern; none of that has anything to do with Leeds and I can safely say that Reading is quite clearly the better festival because more people talk about it.

A terrible terrible pub/bar/venue.

Got to admit never been bored in the evenings at Reading despite lack of afterhours entertainment compared to the majority of fests I've been to recently. There's stuff like trolley, porta-rave, fire trolley, hill, the fairground, bowling around the campsite with alcohol meeting new people & you could hear the crowd singing along to Team America from the other side of the site.

There doesn't seem to be much of the burning s**t anymore though.

The Turtle's a good bar, as it's one of the only places in town open until 4am it tends to draw a wide range of dirbags desperate for a last few drinks at the end of the night rather than just studenty types as in the olden days and it gets horrendously busy but when quieter it's a decent bar with decent music.

It depends on your definition of atmosphere is.

Southern: Good old sing-song round the campfire with a beer & marshmallows before retiring to your comfy airbed and double skin tent

Northern: Pissed out of your mind, seeing who can down a litre of gravy the quickest, before finding some bird to take back to your Tesco value tent (if its still there).
