Looks like we are still able to post in here, so I guess the only change is that it's no longer in the main index?

Makes sense I guess. There wasn't a lot of traffic, and EoTR seem to prefer using Facebook, their own site and Twitter to communicate. This has been a great forum for me, anyway, so thanks to efests, the staff and the forum regulars for the good times :)

edit: yep, the comment went through. As you were, everybody. Keep posting!

you're still able to post here, but the forums link from the EotR pages on the main efests pages now goes to the UK Festivals forum, so it's quite possible that new threads will now start appearing there rather than here.

^^

My guess is that "official" forums are forums that smaller festivals pay efests to host. This benefits both parties (festival doesn't have to maintain a forum, efests gets traffic and money). But given that most of EoTR's traffic now happens on their Facebook page, which wasn't the case when this forum opened, it seems to me that they see "no value" in paying to have a forum.

The wording is harsh (I like to think we have some value ;)), but I can certainly see the logic.

I guess what this really means EOTR don't think eFestivals is value for money. I don't know what the costs are, but everything has its price.

At least my bookmark for EOTR was unaffected, so it's makes nodifference to me. Like many others (usuallly in the IT profession) I steer clear of Facebook.

The Facebook page is full of deliriously happy people, probably with the same i.p. address, all going Yippee, Yaroo, Fantastic, Amazing, Who'd Have Thought It?, Superhappy, blah blah blah, which no doubt is seen as the way forward. It's not as though there's exactly been a shortageof that here recently in any event, but at least that's had a semblance of comment rather than advertisement.

Yeah, but the Facebook page is also full of people expecting Neil Young to be announced to play the cider bus. That must be exasperating for the organisers. I know I get annoyed with ridiculous speculation/requests and I don't even run the bloody thing.

I'll stick with the realism and sensible discussion here thanks.
