I think they do, they've earned it, they're not like a band (eg Mumford) who've shot straight into the spotlight, they've worked hard for that spot, and the best way to showcase their talent would be with a long set, so you get as good a mix of old and new Biffy as possible.

Also I don't think NIN will play in the dark (especially at Leeds) even if Biffy got an hour set, there's not really much they can do about it unfortunately

I know they've worked hard for it, and I can understand that they're a band who have a huge affinity with the festival, this will be their eighth (I think?) performance, so they're a band who have

played more times than a lot of acts in the festival's history. But I'm still surprised the organisers are giving them such a long set considering how they don't have the festival headlining pedigree of the likes of Foo Fighters, Muse and Radiohead. This will only be their second UK headline slot after Sonisphere.

It wasn't fully dark when Nine Inch Nails played in 2007 but their lightshow still worked as it was dusk, admittedly Smashing Pumpkins were only on for an hour and a half though. Watching footage of The Black Keys at Leeds, it's not even getting dark so if Nine Inch Nails are on at the same time I don't think people will get the full deal of their live shows!

I think Biffy are better equipped to fill a 2h30 set than Muse. The problem is that both would fill such a set with mediocre->quite good tracks off their last 2 albums. Difference is, Biffy's last 2 albums are kinda dull at their worst, Muse's are actively painful. Although Muse at their peak were better than Biffy at their peak.

Either way, NIN are going to be the set of the weekend. I still thought they were magical in daylight at Soni, and that's the weakest I've seen them.

I doubt that would happen with Muse. On the last arena tour they only played 3 songs from The Resistance. If they weren't touring The 2nd Law they'd probably only have played about 4/5 from it. Other than Showbiz they play a fair mix from each album.

I've been a fan of Biffy since 2005 and i cannot see them getting more than an hour and 45 minute set, i'd be really surprised if they are given more than 2 hours, didn't Kasabian only get 90 mins last year?

NIN full set from Fuji Rocks is now available to watch.

Oh I agree their setlists could be way better. I saw them close with fucking Starlight twice in a week.

Out of interest, did you see what they closed the main set with the other night in Helsinki?

Stockholm Syndrome + War Within a Breath riff + Agitated outro

Agitated + Micro Cuts outro

Yes Please + Township Rebellion riff

Would have loved to have been there for that.

Every time I hear Starlight it makes me want to punch Matt Bellamy in the throat.

That's a seriously sexy close. Still, last time I saw them at a gig (06), they did a 8-minute version of Bliss, and closed with Muscle Museum fading into Knights of Cydonia. Short of them releasing an album of Absolution quality or higher again I doubt I'll see them outside festivals again though. Every time I've seen them at festivals since they've been good, but not enough to overcome my hatred of arenas and crappy setlists.

Well, you never know. They've said the next album's going to be stripped back, and when they came back out after that trio I posted earlier Matt said that was what the next album was going to sound like.

Although I highly doubt any of this will be true. They seem to enjoy the stadium life too much.

It's Guiding Light and Undisclosed Desires in a row, isn't it? I hurled a lot of abuse when that happened at the Emirates. Absolute joke.

Who the fuck puts Stockholm Syndrome and New Born on rotation and has Guiding Light as a staple? There are hundreds of other songs that should also be played over it, but Stockholm Syndrome and New Born are two of their biggest hits, and are a damn site more well known than Guiding Light anyway.

Did I mention that Guiding Light's shit?

I didn't hurl abuse. Just stood there and let everything happen around me

Guiding shite should never be played again. Why the fuck do they not play Citizen Erased anymore, and why are Showbiz and Muscle Museum always left out?

I don't think I've seen an act before where my 3 favourite songs by them were left out of the set!

Why has everyone decided that Biffy are going to be getting a 2 or even a 2 and a half hour set? Has it been announced anywhere? any quotes from organisers?

Also, some seem to think Green Day will be on for 2 and a half hours!!

Nearly every year the headliners get about an hour and a half and one of the headliners gets two hours. Why does everyone think that this year they will be getting mega sets??
