I reckon they stormed it. Not the best I've seen them, but I really enjoyed the new stage setup and slightly different versions of the songs in comparison to previous performances. Yeah, Trent's tweet moaning about Biffy was petulant, but if the set was cut by 15 minutes and they couldn't do as much of a stage setup as discussed before signing then I get him being pissed off at the promoter.

People moaning about the setlist have no taste. The new songs with Sanctified breaking them up were an ace start to mix it up and make it different, then we got Somewhat Damaged and Terrible Lie before a fantastic trio to close in Burn, Gave Up and Wish. Yeah, I'd have loved more off The Fragile, but it still had plenty of cracking songs.

One thing I got from that that performance is that Nine Inch Nails are a much better rock band than electronic/techno band. The second half of the set owned the first half!!!! Why do they bother playing the shitty electro stuff. Wish was bloody awesome the lights with the rockier tunes worked superbly. But why did they miss out some of the biggest songs??? If they thought 75 mins was a bit short they need to come back and do a gig of their own to regain respect from their UK fans, a lot of them are waiting (inc me).

Will be interesting to see what size venues they do for the April tour. Arenas sold out easily last time but that was the Wave Goodbye tour. I think if they do fests in the UK again they need to look more at headlining other at Glastonbury or headlining Download (as the smallest headliner with maybe a strong sub and two massive other headliners). Think their fanbase would be more at those sort of places than at Reading nowadays.

When Pulp subbed at T In The Park and Isle Of Wight the other year, they didn't have the massive screens or the lighting that they had when they played Reading and Leeds, just a backdrop saying 'PULP' on it, and you didn't hear Jarvis Cocker complaining like Trent Reznor has been.

When you sub a festival you have to expect to not present the full package of your live show.

Yeah but judging by what Trent said I'd guess they were led to believe they'd be able to have their full show, otherwise Trent wouldn't have waited until after the show to complain. Obviously if this isn't the case, he's just acting like a spoilt kid, and what he said about Biffy showed him up as a dick.

I was at Leeds. First time seeing NIN and I thought they were excellent. The setlist was only really missing Hurt for me. I think Leeds got the better setlist.

Will deffo see them on the tour.

Gutted with the sub set lengths in general though especially when there could easily be another 10 or 20 minutes shoved in there.

I enjoyed it but as a casual fan it definitely wasnt a great show, didnt really work at a festival.

I also think Trent was lucky to get as much time as they got, considering they didnt appear to be a big draw. Id be curious to see what went wrong between them and the organisers.

It seems to be a recurring thing that Melvin (or other promoters involved with R&L) promise these bands things that they really can't deliver just to get them there. I mean Axl Rose might be a dick, but he was adamant that the promoter had said he could play till later when they signed the contract.

If I'd been lead to believe I could perform with my full set/equipment & turned up on the day with it pumped & ready to perform, only to then be told, actually nah that's not gonna work, I think I'd be pretty pissed off too. I don't see how it's Biffy's fault though, unless their set was what was causing an issue.

I think cause they needed 50 mins to set up, cause they had so much to put up, it will have taken time out of NINs set for one, and maybe it would have been too difficult to move NIN's stage stuff out, and Biffy's in, in time. But it's their headline show, not NIN's, so Trent has no reason or ground to take it out on them.
