Englishdragon
The Dance Stage wouldn't be big enough to hold the crowds they're obviously expecting for those acts. The organisers need to get a mix of old and new, and with the main stage full of acts towards the top who've been around for ages they've obviously gone newer on the R1 stage. That's obviously led to them going more in the dance/rap area as that's where the newer acts who can play those slots fit in.
Englishdragon
The problem I have is the fact Skrillex is yet to release a proper album and yet is headlining a 20,000 capacity tent? As for A$AP, he's huge amongst the younger demographic, as is Azealia.
Asdaprice
Hes released far more than some of the headliners we have had in the past. The Tears anyone??? Maximo Park in 06??? The View in 07?>???
Englishdragon
yep, readings always had odd (shit) choices for NME headliners in the past, Alt J shouldnt be a shock. Loads will be hyped for Skrillex so thats fair enough, and Phoenix are massive elsewhere, so maybe they wouldn't play without headlining in some form. Good luck to them though, everyone that isnt a moron will be at Biffy

DL50
I like a few of A$AP's songs However i think Frank Ocean or Kendrick Lamar would have been a much better booking. Yes A$AP is a very hyped young rapper atm but for me it just seems a bit random booking him Edited March 21, 2013 by DL50
LondonTom
he sold out the 20k capacity sw4 last year Edited March 21, 2013 by LondonTom

SOAD
Anyone who doubts the size of Skrillex is a little crazy.... easily the biggest nme headliner we have this year and comparable to/bigger than a lot of headliners we have had in the past. Yellow_Fellow
The album thing doesn't even matter. It doesn't work that way in EDM. deadmau5, technically, doesn't have any albums out yet.

Purple_Gorilla
I've seen Skrillex before, he managed to drop around 30+ Songs during his set. It was a great show if I do say so myself. May have to see him again seeming as I don't like Green Day

the wonderwhy
Who does EDM think he is making up all these new rules for himself? Edited March 21, 2013 by MattDavies__
Gingo
Ehhh... kinda but not kinda. Like, in EDM there's a difference between throwing a load of already made tracks on an album (compilation) like deadmau5, and completely writing new stuff for it like Schössow.
