camping group at EOTR - especially for those going solo

Hi, for reasons best known (and according to geof, "KEPT") to himself, efestivals has barred geofelgie from the forums. So he's asked me to post a quick message. (I'm Mark the steward to those who have been before - never been on here before - and unlikely to return).

Just to let you know the Happy Campers will be back at EOTR, Facebook group:

http://www.facebook.com/groups/125270931623/

Or search for End of the Road - Happy Campers.

So if anyone wants a bit of company at the festival - please join us.

Hopefully someone else who does post here regularly can keep you up-to-date.

due to post #2, im justified in posting this: the individual that just called geof a moron basically couldnt cope with mick taking on the latitude site after lording it on the efests own latitude thread.

theres some more detail, but thats about the long and short of it.

sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will make me take my bat home.

yeah, because lies and defamation - of both me personally, and efestivals - is all very reasonable, eh?

So reasonable, that you have to wonder where that thread has gone on the latitude forums, and why the forums mod has had his wrists slapped.

If I was what you are trying to suggest, those morons would be coughing up via a court hearing, or filing for bankruptcy to avoid coughing up.

But as you clearly don't like it here riverlodge David Woodward because lies are more to your liking, I'll be happy to help you on your way.

and you are also about as amusing as i expected you to be.

i have no problem with people knowing who i am: given that anyone who has met me at eotr knows me as woody, and my first name is david, your 'outing' has about the same impact as your personality ;)

still, its nice for you to be able to sit in a baby hitler role - guaranteed to add to your persona. and you get to use slightly rude words on your own forum.

:bye:

look, i'm still waiting to celebrate the ban* but meanwhile i am genuinely interested in why, given it was such a major issue at the time, you have allowed it to be aired again here (i.e. the unnecessarily chippy response in post #2, then instead of just clamping down on the thread (or me) you attempt to apply some form of 'retribution' rather than prevention - odd given that you were so exercised about the whole thing in the first place (and btw, just for the record as long as you leave it here, i didnt post any abusive comments against you or anyone else in that first latitude thread - but you'll have checked that i imagine)).

you have the opportunity to control this, but you have just caused elevation, and i'm intrigued.

cheers, woody

ps i didnt count my parenthesis there, it might not scan well

pps i guess i'm not going to get a free efests mug out of this?

I don't do censorship. What I do do is allow free discussion. Such as this right now.

But within that I'm not necessarily going to tolerate actions outside of the law - as was that thread on the latitude forums - or tolerate those people who wish to denigrate efestivals on other platforms and then pretend something different when here.

After all, it's not only me that has a dislike for two-faced cowards.

fair play on your first point, sorry i'm too thick for the last one (i doubt its obtuse, im just not there on it). but it still doesn't explain why in particular you upped the ante in post #2.

maybe its an opinion thing (and we can differ there, as elsewhere) but i didnt think the OP post on this thread was confrontational (and certainly not enough to jump on). most people would expect geof to be the person raising the happy campers thread, so there is a rationale for explaining why he isnt here. appreciate you are 'not best pleased' with him, but the jump down throat approach just makes into into something it wasnt.

so you DO feel okay with that!

running a forum with the details of thousands of individuals, and you are cool with "righting wrongs" (even though i'd argue my posts were an opinion - you allow "free discussion" right?) by the disclosure of personal data.

as said above, i'm okay with this but you take the risk of that person being seriously affected by it for a bit of "redress".

(apology accepted btw, but you could send a mug if you like).

Ok, didn't see the original thread on Latitude forum, but if anyone comes to this thread looking for a friendly group to camp with, please don't be put off!! This will be my 3rd year as a Happy Camper and a nicer bunch of festival goers you couldn't wish to meet - including Geofelgie, MarkySharky and riverlodge. So come along to the Facebook group and join the fun :)

I'm disappointed to come across a thread like this, but many of us are are getting close to two decades of forum postings and we learn through experience that (as Churchill apparently said) "jaw jaw is better than war war", and I support eFestival's policy of keeping threads open. Deletions and locked threads are a recipe for failure. There will be casualties, people will be lost. Flamers inevitably come to self-inflicted grief, the angry ones storm out, the liars and blaggers leave themselves exposed. Meanwhile the rational and sincere take a deep breath and outlast the unpleasantness that can sometimes occur.

So I won't be scurrying off to Facebook! This site is still a great resource for festival-goers, and there's lots of good people here, including (IMO) the webmaster.

thats all very nice & apologist for you baroquepop (and btw, whatever category you put me in, i am going nowhere unless your 'good webmaster' decides to ban me), but do you support websites acting contrary to their stated privacy policies in order to 'strike' back at perceived injustices?

straight yes or no please.
