To be absolutely honest, I have no idea real who could headline Download next year, I think there are a few bands who could headline and sub.

  • Avenged Sevenfold's new taster plays the same riff over and over again, I personally cannot see them headlining,
  • Avenged Sevenfold would be a great sub to a classic rock band of which there could be several (AC/DC, GN'R, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi).
  • Nine Inch Nails are a legendary band who I admire massively, they IMO should headline with a similar status of The Prodigy in 2012 (being a slightly out of the box headliner).
  • Tool apart from playing Ozzfest Japan I can't see playing although I haven't really discovered them yet.
  • Foo Fighters and Muse could be a larger more Reading/Glastonbury associated bands, more usual festival names.
  • Pearl Jam are a tricky one despite being a Download esque band they are being talked about for Reading and many people would love them to play Glasto (Mr Eavis probably won't book them though for the foreseeable future anyway)

This is what I reckon next year could be:

Friday

Main Stage: Pearl Jam // The Smashing Pumpkins // Weezer // Killswitch Engage

2nd Stage: Marilyn Manson // Skindred

Saturday

Main Stage: Avenged Sevenfold // Deftones // Bring Me the Horizon // Within Temptation

2nd Stage: Megadeth // Trivium

Sunday

Main Stage: Tool // Nine Inch Nails // Placebo // Dream Theater

2nd Stage: Disturbed // Lamb of God

There's a couple less heavy bands thrown in there but I reckon they'd actually go down quite well because of crossover with other acts.

The bit I caught last year they were pretty good. I also saw them as part of the Taste of Chaos tour and they were good then. I wasn't a fan before that but they were slowly winning me over and then broke up! :)
