Areophobia
Blink 182 were awful by far the worst 'headline' set I've ever seen at Reading or anywhere else. Paramore before them were awful too. Damn my friends for having awful taste in music & subjecting me to that load of old shit.

Benj
To be fair I was pretty far back, and I guess the crowd played some part in how terrible they were. Nevertheless I don't think they actually completed a single song without jumping into the crowd and just generally being dicks about it. mrtourette
Exactly, it was ace, completely different to everythign else on all weekend. If you just want to watch white boys stand still and play Guitar, KOL are at V this year and Oasis will no doubt reform in a year or two

LondonTom
If you go to see a hip hop performance and get disappointed by lack of instruments you need a head check. It was Yonkers, check it out. Edited April 11, 2013 by LondonTom
VCK
I'm into some "lad rock" (Oasis, Stone Roses and Happy Mondays if they count), but I like a fair bit of Hip-Hop too. I just find OFWGTKA to be tedious drivel for hipsters who aren't really into Hip-Hop. They try so hard to be edgy and controversial but they just come across as gimmicky and contrived. They're a bunch of N.W.A. wannabes, but Ice Cube alone has more talent in his index finger than all members of OFWGKTA combined.

VCK
I'd class Dizzee as that as well. When are Reading going to start booking acts like De La Soul, Public Enemy and Jurassic 5 again?

kaosmark2
Dizzee is more liked by the Joey Essex wannabe, chino wearing, LAD BANTZ crowd Reading and Leeds hardly book older, credible guitar acts outside the top two these days, so I'm not holding out hope for those being booked, even though I'd love Public Enemy there. VCK
Ice Cube is a don.
VCK
They barely even book in them in the top 2! Green Day aren't credible, Eminem and C&S aren't credible or guitar acts. Biffy aren't older, and NIN, while they use guitars in their instrumentation, are more industrial/synthy by nature.

Com Truise
I liked the bit where they molested Dave Grohl's blow-up girlfriend and then, Hodgy I think, blew her up Highlight of the performance
kaosmark2
Green Day and Eminem are still strong headliners even though neither have really done anything good in the past ten years. C&S just shouldn't be anywhere near Reading and Leeds though!
mrtourette
How do you define credible though? I can't see any 'credible' guitar acts that are big enough with R&L's target audience to justify a top-two spot, and any guitar acts that are big enough probably aren't 'credible'.If you're big enough to headline a 90,000 capacity commercial festival aimed at teenage mainstream indiepoprock music fans than you've probably done something along the way to lose your credibility. MJMilz14
I never did see RHCP in '07 but if they were worse than Arctics in '09 then dear god - they must have been horrendous.

Benj
They were. At least the Arctic's were "technically" good, and played there songs well, they just played a bad setlist and didn't seem too interested. Chilli's wern't at all interested, played a terrible setlist and actually played the songs badly as well. Dreary as fuck.
