Sold out, Full Line Up Due Soon?

That's fair enough , there is more to it but they bring the tension levels up to such a level for a rather average line up that peoples expectations are so high.

I have such a vast interest in so much music that it actually really honestly does not bother me when the line up is out, I don't want a bloody medal. But I planned to see so much last time that I was gutted when it did work out. I am chilling, making Note of my favourite bands, that's all I need. And we will have the line up soon, still plenty of time to plan :-) still got 4 weeks.

I think, more than anything else on this forum, I hate the smug people who claim the line-up doesn't matter to them and would prefer to not know till they get there. I don't want to enjoy the mystery, thanks, I want to know what clashes are going to happen so I don't waste time getting into a band I won't get to see anyway. I'd like to know that if the weather is shit I won't have a miserable time struggling to find a band to watch, I want to know what I've paid for, a few weeks beforehand. I'm not annoyed with the organisers, I expect Hop Farm has had an effect on things. But my God, save me the smug people. We get you love the festival, so do I, you don't win because you don't want to know who's playing you know, Eavis isn't going to give you a medal.

Why is that Glastonburys fault? Glastonbury has a pattern/method its carried out for years, and its been shown to work, and is probably the only logistically way possible in the modern day and age.

I can understand people want the full line up, but we had the initial lineup nearly three weeks earlier this year, and they've already said they plan on releasing the set times around the same time they previously did to give people enough time to plan.

jesus christ i'm surprised this thread hasn't caved in and swallowed itself up through sheer ridiculousness. i hope for the sake of some people's mental wellbeing that the lineup is announced soon and is worth the wait. seems like some people may be on the verge of an aneurysm

I'm also desperate for the line up but realistically we have had most of the main line up already so a few more large names and some of the smaller stages releasing a line up in full isn't going to make or break my festival - knowing the runing order again would be nice but with a month to go isn't going to make or break my festival if I don't know for a little while longer. I am certainly not in the 'rather just find out on the day camp' but having come this far I don't understand the anger some people have had towards GFL for delaying the remainder of the line up personally.

They've varied from their normal method as we've a lot less info than in previous years despite the intitial announcement being earlier. Stage Times a week before the fest is normal, but we've got less of the line-up and less idea about the runing order than usual.

Firstly, let me say I'm extremely eager to see the running order and lineup as I do place quite a lot of importance on it.

I find it utterly bizarre how someone's personal preference of how they enjoy and prepare for the festival for the festival makes them smug?

I've seen no such attitude so far in this thread. A couple of people have said the lineup doesn't matter to them and I can't see anyone being particularly smug about it.

The only thing that was treated with derision is someone saying they were 'pissed off' at not having the lineup which is fair enough IMO. There is no reason to be pissed off at anyone or anything. There was never a set date when the lineup was released and with the sheer size of the bill, GFL are bound to need more time to coordinate things between the different stages and work out the logistics of it all. It's also probably worth saying that Glastonbury have appeared to struggle booking bands this year and without the cash to throw at bands, they seem to need this the extra time. I don't understand the 'I NEED, I NEED, I NEED and if I don't I'm going to get angry' position.

GFL are notoriously late when it comes to releasing the lineup so this is nothing new and if anything we were spolit in 2011 with it being so early. The only reason we had it early in 2010 was because Q broke the embargo. In 2007 & 2009 it was around this time and I would say 2008 was an exception as they got a lot of heat regarding the Jay-Z thing. Traditionally, the lineup comes out around this time.

But fuck it, we'll have it tomorrow anyway!

Yeah, I can agree with that. The thing is, a lot of the people complaining are the same people who were complaining there wasn't a lineup out yet (despite the fact we were ahead of schedule). It's fairly obvious that the earlier you release it, the less likely it is to have full run throughs on all the main stages, and have a large number of stages. Certain people either have to choose whether they want an initial base lineup early and then wait, or whether they want a more conclusive lineup nearer the time.

The smug brigade i decribed are an eFestivals stereotype and pop up in various threads. I've been reading their thoughts for years and have had them pounce on me in the past so I'm not a fan.

You're always going to get some people more keen than others. I wasn't bothered for a while but the longer it goes on the more bothered I am.
