What's everyone getting so bent out of shape for?

In the years I've been going, not once has Glastonbury made an official announcement in the morning. It was always going to be late afternoon or evening if there was to be an announcement. Plenty of time left in the day.

The point is they don't need to do it. Why pay for somebody to sit on twitter and Facebook all day when you don't need to. The official website has been putting videos and news on most weeks for ages

Social media is a 2 way tool for engagement. That's a fact. It's an interaction between multiple parties. Glastonbury festival isn't directly involved in this forum, well apart from your mate who's got the full schedule, so that doesn't make any sense at all to say my post is ironic.

Like I said, if you don't engage with people on theses platforms then you're not utilising social media. You're making press releases instead. Good use of SM is when you can get interaction directly from the source. It's extremely resource heavy to be done properly, but a company the size of Glastonbury could easily do it. There's good and bad examples of this throughout Twitter and Facebook, this just happens to be a bad example

Don't promise things you can't deliver I guess. I still have faith it could be later on in the day, but unless you know 100% that the lineup is going to be announced on X day then don't mention it. I mean just look at how people have thrown their toys out of the pram on facebook/here.

Exactly, if anyone thinks we're being out of order check the wallposts on silver hayes facebook right now!

If you say confidently that something is going to be announced on X day, say it only if you're sure. If things change, notify everyone. Don't then pretend that nothing is wrong.

I still think there will be an announcement tonight. Why would they announce during the day when everybody is at work?

I think it'll just be a tweet like last time. A radio DJ isn't going to spend ages reading off a list of loads of dj's and acts!

Each field is run by a different group. So the silver hayes fb person will almost certainly not be somebody at the festival office. So their word can't be taken as official.

It is quite possible that the full lineup is complete, and is being sent out to people on the 30th May. That doesn't necessarily mean they will be allowed to release it to the public then. The silver hayes people probably don't have all the full information.

If e.g. Guardian is releasing it, then it is basically just whenever they have agreed to it. Just because it was before a certain date in previous years, doesn't mean it will be this time.

There's a good chance it will be this afternoon/evening, but don't be surprised if it's next week.

Really, it makes no difference to anyone whether we get the running order a month or three weeks in advance, so we shouldn't complain too much. I think the excitement has made us all go crazy.
