I've already admitted I was wrong & the humble pie has been eaten.

Lets be honest, it would have been better if I was right. It's a terrible announcement, over hyped by the long delay & the party on the boat (which they should have done when announcing Elton instead).

& to the above post, he played 2 FREE gigs, hardly filling the stadiums is it. His placing on the line up in 2011 was correct, headlining the main stage in 2013 is not. Oh & Nick Cave or Morrissey would fit in perfectly at Bestival, no issue if the Cure, Bjork etc can do it.

Before anyone jumps on me for complaining, I hardly ever complain about headliners because I'm a "Well just go to another part of the festival & check out something else" kind of guy, but this is the biggest anti-climax since Download announced Def Leppard part 2.

Is now the time to point out to people expecting/wanting Nick Cave/QOTSA/Moz et al that it's RDB's bash. Have a listen to his radio show each week and you'd know that he's never going to book that kind of headliner.

Whatever you think of Norman he fits the Bestival vibe perfectly. Played the first one, is hands in the air party music and played 2 consecutive nights in a his own headline British stadium gigs in the last 12 months. None of which you could really say about Nick Cave.

I was so convinced that it'd be Plan B that I'm going to have to buy a Lovebox ticket now so that I do catch him this summer. Wouldn't normally be that bothered about a Fatboy Slim set (I've lived in Brighton for nearly 20 years; it's not as though there's been a shortage of chances to see him), but the fact that it's a Bestival birthday extravaganza means it could genuinely be something special.

So it was, my apologies. I'm not sure where I got the free bit from?

Either way, it's hardly concrete evidence that he should be headlining. If anything when you look at the line up BBB had, it proves he should be headlining the Annie Mac presents day on the Port. (The slot he was probably originally booked in before someone else pulled out.)

Clearly less people watch IT crowd than i anticipated... He's better than example, much more 'bestival' than plan b and more realistic that other suggestions.

He is billed as a very special guest on all the other festivals he's playing so i guess it may have been a late decision to tour, kinda like PULP a few years back when they co-headlined everywhere because festivals wanted them but already had 3 headliners booked.

Also is he any smaller than snoop dogg, i don't think so.

Though I do believe he was a replacement headliner, maybe a 'verbal' contract fell through, RdB asked a member of arcade fire to headline, they said yes not thinking about it and when it came to putting pen to paper they realised they wouldn't be able to do it

whilst i think the undercard at Bestival is fantastic this year, Fatboy Slim as a headliner is obviously a very weak booking (he plays Glastonbury almost every year doing tiny sets across the site) and obviously negotiations have fallen through with somebody else which is a damn shame. that said, Fatboy Slim was surely low on the list of 'go-to' headliners so it makes you wonder just how many other acts turned them down before they reached him?

Saw Fatboy Slim DJ in the Bollywood tent at Bestival 2011...

However, I think a big production headline set from him on the Friday night will be awesome. If I can make it to Bestival this year, I'll be there for sure.

I don't post a lot on efestivals but i have been a member for the last 4 years and regularly use the forum for information and to see what the general buzz is like from Bestival, Glastonbury, R+L, Download and IOW. In that time have never seen anyone talk so much shite on a topic until i started reading this one. Mr Shankly, so far if it were up to you, we'd be watching Nick Cave, Lil kim and Lionel Ritchie Headline Bestival...

You have constantly talked down to people on here and argued about things you don't know anything about.

Fatboy Slim will be great, so to quote one of your previous posts to another member, why don't you "Bore off".

I'd love to know the opinion of someone so enlightened they've posted on the forums a mere 8 times...

I'll just point out that he might have posted more. When it was necessary to purge the posts from here to keep the forums running fast (which doesn't happen any more), people's post counts got rebuilt to reflect the number of posts of theirs which remained on here.
