new forums feature: 'social groups'

A few years ago these forums had an add-on installed called 'member teams' which allowed for the creation of private or public groups along with a forum for them. Unfortunately the development of that add-on didn't keep up with changes to the forums software which meant that it had to be removed after a forums software upgrade.

A new very similar add-on has now been installed, called 'social groups'. It does much the same things, of allowing the creation of private or public groups and an associated private forum, etc.

However, the add-on is a bit buggy, as well as complicated to set-up properly - and because of that it's not really possible to unleash its full potential to members here, cos I'd then have a huge extra workload in dealing with the issues it would cause. And so, while members are welcome to request the set-up of a group, they won't (for the moment at least) be free to create them themselves.

If you have need a private forums group for some reason, then please request one by posting here or by contacting me by private message. Please give me a name for the group and a description for the group along with your request (as things go screwy if they're changed after being set-up), as well as brief justification for why it's needed; while not every request will be automatically granted (because the justification for the group might not be considered good enough for a variety of reasons), requests on any reasonable basis will be granted.
