There's so much worngness on this thread. A sucesion of dreary rawk bands, mediocre blues-rock,witless novelty acts, shitty has beens and never weres.

I might not be over the moon with the ineup, but I thank God that it's not a democratic exercise, based on the replies here.

I whole heartedly apologise for hurting your feelings but this 'thread' as you put it was merely just a bit of fun really. An opportunity for fellow humans to share their eclectic tastes in music. A chance for people to voice a particular bugbear or desire. Satisfaction is never completely achieved but I for one am over the moon with this years line-up and I can't complain at the diverse collection of artists on offer at this point (with more to come of course). Above all this post only provides discussion on 'music'... One very significant but small part of the festival itself. Regardless of opinions, I hope you and your mates have an ace Glastonbury in 2013.

A lot of the acts mentioned have already played, or are more suited to Download. It's not as if metal is hard to see in this country, I don't think they really need to take over another festival.

Another vote for Dan Deacon though. He would be great fun. Boards of Canada isn't going to happen, but I'll put it out there anyway.

That's a bit of a non argument if you ask me. Every act at Glastonbury could be seen elsewhere. Glastonbury is a general festival so a few more metal acts wouldn't harm it at all.

Maybe an Eddie Vedder Friday night headline set at acoustic stage (including ukelele songs) before a big band Pearl Jam headline set on Saturday night. Am I being greedy?

but there are the odd ones, such as Queens of the Stone Age, Rage Against the Machine. I just don't want to see a metal day. Pop is under represented at Glastonbury, but I wouldn't want more. Especially as there are whole festivals dedicated to that as well.

I don't think anyone would go to Download and request an indie day. Be happy with the things you get. You had Slash one year. That would be like me going to Download and getting Belle and Sebastian.

Rubbish, Glastonbury's description is the 'Festival of Contempary Performing Arts'. Nowhere does Glastonbury specify a particular genre or style. I'm no massive metal fan but I do like the odd act, there is no reason we couldn't have the occasional act.

Foo Fighters, Led Zepplin, AC/DC, Muse, Rage Against the Machine etc all could in one way or another squeeze into the metal bracket! They could all headline.

That's the thing though. Acts from the 80s that are deemed as metal seem tame compared to modern acts to me. Labels are what people make of them, very few would go for the likes of Slayer or Slipknot to headline.

The Offspring, as Other Stage headliners. I think they might have played before a long time ago, but whether or not they played 15 years ago doesn't do me any good. I want them now!
