Dour Festival

Line-up vs price, this is one of the better festivals in Europe. But I could tell a lot of negative things as well..

To keep it short: If you're after partying all night long, possibly with drugs involved, go. If you're looking for great musical experiences from live bands, hear more info first.

If you are into music, don't need the big Kings of leons or Green days than you'll love it! It's my favourite one!

Great atmosphere in the audience! Mad and innovating line-up évery year! Cheap! 24h party and lots of extras.

This festival is booming...

Organisation is getting better every year.

It won't take ten years before this festival will be a hype all over the world!! for now... it's still a hidden spot in festivalworld...

Go there. It doesn't cost you a fortune!

I'm not an organiser at all! haha I wish!

It's my favourite festival. Is it allowed?

Besides I don't do drugs and never had complaints of it over there.

Atmosphere is amazing! all people are friendly, and yes some twats yeah, the festival doesn't stop at 1am so people can get wasted or drunk...

I've been there the past 2 years, and both times the field got flooded due to heavy rain (then I'm not talking Glasto mud stuff, but the whole field filled with 5cm of water). The worst part is: that was the third time in 5 years that happened, and last year they preferred posting positive weather forecasts on facebook over taking measures against flooding.

But on the festival site it's still alright, the camping site is the bad part. Basically anyone can just walk in and out, so the result is that the big majority gets confronted with theft and vandalism sooner or later. It's no suprise that the festihuts (sort of chalets) get sold out within like a month after ticket sale starts.

Johnybegood already mentioned the magic word: when you ask a Belgian about Dour, the first thing he/she will say is 'drugs'. The amount of drug users (not talking about weed or alcohol now) is massive, which combined with the 'all night long' dance tents can form a problem if you're really there for the music. Cause generally the atmosphere is great, but a lot of people are there for drugs/electro/hip hop, sometimes forming problems for other genres. I've seen Pulp headlining main stage in front of no more than 1000 people... (okay, the flooding played a part in that). Ofcourse I'm not sure how much you're used to the drugs part, cause I've heard similar things about Benicassim and British fests.

I am used to the weather side after living in England and attending festivals with the most horrific weather so thats not a huge issue for me. Shame about the campsite safety, guess I will just have to camp in the middle of it all for safety from the outside.

There was no mention on the website about consumption of alcohol and the availability and I was wondering about that. They say it's prohibited to take alcohol on site but there was no mention of alcohol being available on site so what you have wrote has reassured me enough that there will be enough because if there are drugs then there will be booze!
