A festival isn't just about chart toppers. Take Basement Jaxx: they haven't put out a song which has charted since 2009, and their most popular years were 2003-2007, but they're still playing festivals because they've got a great back catalogue of masses of well-known songs for the people whose musical upbringing stretches back since before the start of Britain's Got Talent. In fact as a general rule at a festival, with the exception of artists that I am a particularly big fan of now, I'd probably be more interested in seeing a band that was big when I was younger than a recently-emerging band with one hit. Take The Rolling Stones. One Direction have sold more records in the last two years, but who is headlining Glastonbury? Sometimes the bands that are popular 'now' aren't what festival bookers look for.

Just throwing it out there.

And yes I know that V often go against everything I just said. But the likes of Seasick Steve and Basement Jaxx should not be dismissed on the basis of not having a number one recently.

/rant.

Seasick Steve is in a whole new league, he is far better than the manufactured boybands like One Direction but hasnt sold as many albums or singles, so I agree with that. Most festivals from what I looked at do have a mix between old and new, but I think basement jaxx only got the V call as Electronic Dance Music is alot bigger this year and they were doing it years ago. No denying they were good and popular a few years ago but I wont be seeing them this year unless beyonce pulls out and theres no one else good to replace her. I would choose Basement Jaxx or Beady Eye any day :)

would beyonce really be stupid enough to get pregnant during a world tour? (stupid may be too strong a word) the amount of money a world tour generates is stupidly high, i know she's rich enough as it is so it probably doesn't matter to her, but aren't her and jay-z VERY business minded? i cant grasp that they didn't consider contraception until there commitments were over. she will be getting an absolute fortune to play v festival...

if it IS true and she pulls out then v fest will surely have to get another headliner, there is no way that they can just wipe beyonce off and not come up with a suitable replacement. it would be a PR nightmare. beady eye headlining would be nothing short of a joke.

Id be ok with Beady Eye headlining as long as they got an amazing DJ act on 4Music, apparently a Dj act wouldnt be as good for the Main Stage. V would lose alot of what ever reutation it still has if they didnt pull a good name out.

I dont think it would come to it, but theoretically could V sue Beyonce for loss of ticket sales or something :P
