Fair enough, but I think Eminem is more of a V act but Reading went for him :P

Im not sure of the figures but I think tdcc played reading for the past 3 years, so they needed a break. I can see them playing 3rd down next time and perhaps headline in a few years if they keep with solid albums.

There is a need for some fresh headliners though as the same ones year in year out is a bit boring. Wheres the next oasis, blur, radiohead, kol, arctic monkeys, metallica? Im not a fan of all these bands but there the ones still headlining fests and most of them have been doing the rounds for 20 years.

They did yes but where did he headline before 2 years ago and where did he headline the year before? R&L very much got 3rd dibs there, new album or not.

Yeah V had him first but Reading had him 10 years or so ago, so they kind of got there first when he was less mainstream

Id like to think maybe Bastille could be big in the next few years, maybe get another good album and a few more solid songs under their belt then make a move for higher up fests. I think Bastille are a great shout for next year for V fest and not be at Reading

yeah but 12 years even at that to say they got him 1st is silly.

i don't think he's took tickets by storm, he's not a massively great choice for R&L I don't think. The organizers seem to think that by booking the expensive mainstream acts with an undercard to go against that is a good idea. V and T are way more Eminem's street now, Biffy day overall is weak and Green Day headlining when they played Emirates the same year, the worst mistake the festival has made for a longtime.

Alot of people were saying Green Day and Biffy are going to be good and they will see them, so I dont think its a bad idea for the bookers

There not my cup of tea although I will check out biffy at werchter, they are good bookings for reading though.

Like wayiam I cant understand why they let green day do a stadium date aswel, saying that this might show r&l dont have the same pull as they did 5 years ago. From memory I dont think thats happened before, probably will in the future though.

a lot of people on here or a lot out there?

even facebook and this page doesn't make up the majority of people that will be attending. Biffy should not be in a headline spot, I know there's the whole who would you give the chance but they just aren't there yet, their Radio one weekend show was nothing special at all.

it's ridiculous, everyone on here i think ruled them out as soon as emirates came along cause it was the right thing to do, i'm fairly sure green day weren't a last minute booking, they were a quiet booking due to emirates and the organizers have thought they are a bigger pull than they are ans that 60k tickets were going to fly meaning R&L was the next best option.

blink were got before any shows, arcade fore although small crowd were got on 1st bump up although pendulum had a huge crowd as they were then and guns new album an exclusive before arena's. that sells tickets, but mainly down to the libs.

I have to say, people can disagree but if R&L took the punt and booked The Libs somehow to headline one night on a return - it'd not be a bad thing to do. There was shit loads of people that didn't get a ticket that year that would attend just for them. It's the most ideal festival for them too, they haven't to my knowledge done big arena's before which is the stumbling block but I think they would sell them. I reckon headlining is the only way they'd get them back, it's the only fest that would give them that shot, and the only festival that would benefit a lot from doing it, don't get me wrong, the other two headliners would need to be big but a The Libs, Blur and Metallica would go down a storm

Oh come on they deserve to headline, been doing the rounds for years and now getting number 1 albums and playing arenas.

The headline pool is getting less and less year on year, if they didnt headline now they would never have.

I think reading has got it perfect(even though not a big fan personally) this year with having a new reading headliner, an act that been around for 10-15 years abd having a legendry act like green day.
