In an ideal world this would be my picks from your list;

Saturday

Radiohead

Snow Patrol

Sunday

Justin Timberlake

P!nk

That would be really decent for V, half pop, but the type of pop with a fair bit of crossover to maybe less poppy fans, although Snow Patrol can fit that category too, I'd probably go with someone less mainstream subbing to Radiohead, like New Order

Don't know if any of them would sub, but

Daft Punk

Gaga

Jay Z

Mumfords

Just from that list. I want Jay Z to appear with Beyonce at some point. He will obviously be at V site and it would be good to see them both on stage

Yeah Gaga is a definite headliner, personally I don't see Mumfords as a band deserving of a headline slot, but since they're headlining Glasto, they're never going to take anything lower than headline at any other UK festival for a long time

True true, I can't see them doing different types of songs but I do quite like them. I think everywhere giving them headline was a bad move. Subbing first would have been better so they wouldn't let it go to their heads, but they are popular so kind of deserve to headline Glastonbury. Wonder why glasto didn't get the stones to close the weekend instead of Mumford and Sons

I'm going to stand by I think they planned they would get someone like Fleetwood Mac or Prince to close the weekend, but it fell through, so they were stuck with shoving Mumford up to headline, when they were probably originally going to sub the Stones.

I think I'd like them more if Marcus Mumford wasn't the lead singer, he seems to me like the biggest cock in the world.

Marcus Mumford is quite a cock, but I was compared to him last week when I was in my waistcoat at my mumd wedding, my cousin said I looked like him so he can't be that bad ;-) I think Fleetwood Mac could be lined up for next year, and I don't know if Prince would. He played hop farm didn't he last year or year before, but I could be wrong. Would glasto go with Arctic monkeys and two older acts this year. Maybe they had gaga lined up but she cancelled with her injury and didn't know if she would be back in time, then they would have an older act, guitar band and a pop act to try please everyone

Personally I think this years lineup isn't as good as past years, I'd see Arctics, Foals, Shikari, The Hives, Mount Kimbie, Julio Bashmore on the Friday

Public Enemy, Primal Scream, Elvis Costello, The 1975, Hudson Taylor on the Saturday

and Vampire Weekend, Nick Cave/Smashing Pumpkins & Editors/Phoenix/EarlWolf and James Blake on the Sunday.

Of those, I'll see Foals, Editors and The 1975 at Leeds this year, I've seen Shikari and Hudson Taylor already, and most of the others I'll likely be able to catch at Leeds at some point in the near future.

Of course it's probably a perfect lineup for some people :P

I don't think its that great really. The people I'd see wouldbe different to com truise but iI wouldn't see many people. Travis Texas and James could have headlined and people would be like 'yeey great headliners' as tickets sell out before line up release anyway

People dont go for the lineups, cliche but true.

Saying that the other stage is amazing at glasto this year especially the sunday.

I think a lot of its to do with the experience - Glastonbury is an entire festival, you can find something to do or see at every moment of every day at every turn, whatever your likes or dislikes.

V is a corporate machine - and is about making as much money as possible - I'm not complaining about that, business is business, it's what keeps the world spinning (plus i go alot!) but on the face of it, it is more like T4 on the beach, in a field, than an actual Festival on the scale of some.

In summary, having been to both, I just don't think it's fair to compare - they are just totally different on a completely different scale.

Yeah agreed , having been to none I fully agree ;-) I font see any festival getting as big as Glastonbury it just won't happen. V does seem to just book who will sell best but I'm happy with that because I'd like to see who I want to see, not someone that might be good but I Havent heard of

Without trying sound patronising - Festivals are so much more than just the music, and you'll discover that at V - I buy tickets for gigs for people I really want to see - Festivals are all about the whole atmosphere, being able to escape reality in a field for a few days with 80,000 other people.

I've spent Festivals pitched up at a stage, beer flowing, laughing with friends, not really caring if I like who's on, but enjoying it all the same.

I have yet to go to a Festival based on who's headlining and 20 odd Festivals later I've still not had a bad time.

That's my opinion anyway, no doubt there will be people who disagree.....

Of course people will disagree but I wouldn't go to a festival after paying 250 just to sit around and drink, but maybe my view will change when I actually have money :-P

I would happily sit around having a laugh if it didn't cost so much, so maybe a smaller fest I'd sit around one stage and have a laugh but not this year :-)

I agree with bunny but that could be that we have been to alot of fests, ive seen pretty much everyone I want to and multiple times.

on a personal level I have friends all around the country and festivals are the time we all get together and catch up, listening to music and get drunk.

My first couple of fests though it was all about the bands, jumping from stage and stage and missing out on the atmosphere in alot of ways.

agree with the friends part, we've all been at 6th form for a year now and despite still living in the same place we've been apart so much and leeds will be a nice holiday for us all to get together before we go off to hell for another year :P

That's why I wouldn't go to Glasto, because there's so much to it, that I'm not really interested in at this age, and I wouldn't really "get" it

I wouldn't necessarily say I "wasted time" running from stage to stage when I was younger, but I certainly feel I enjoy it more in recent years now I treat it as 50% music and 50% chill.

Agree about the mates thing, now me and my friends are all older, married, kids - a couple if my mates work abroad too, so it's one weekend where we can get rid of the children and just relax and have good time for a couple if days, with a few good bands thrown in for good measure!
