A couple of things I'll share publicly is that when I suggested White Lies he said they didn't go down to well last time and that he didn't fancy booking The Prodigy again as headliners as it was too soon.

What do you guys think about that?

Yeah he considered doing a headliner/headline dance act bill for one of the days which I'd be chuffed with.

Did he say he'd book The Prodigy as a sort of after-headliner dance act, like your second clue hinted at (I think)? So a headliner which he doesn't quite think are big enough on their own, followed by The Prodigy.

personally the idea is good but I don't see the act they are not sure about taking a lower than headline time spot when there is a festival in the same area later on that would hands down give it to them.

Prodigy are going creamfields as an exclusive this year, so guessing they would want to do more next year you you said.

I think the act that has been suggested would want to headline, and guessing prodigy would want to headline too, I see it as either one or the other, or paying the sub a headline price if you get what im saying. Wonder if Calvin Harris could be a Big Top headliner?

This is what made me wonder how likely Giddings' plans are to come off. I would have thought that if said act were touring next year they'd be nailed on for Bestival, especially if IOW wouldn't give them a proper headline slot.

Well, how I take it is that the said act we are talking about won't take a sub, they aren't around europe and are no lesser ticket seller by the looks of it here. this act needs headline or Bestival takes them

The act to close after them would not take a big top as they are possibly too big when compared to Sub Focus and Rizzle Kicks.

it makes sense and it is, but really it all depends on the ego of the people in said band.

also if they did have said big dance act, then surely a lot of people would pay monies especially if it was their only show. could be huge if it was pulled off

Exactly. And if one of the after-headliner dance acts is booked (the big one), then it would just look like this act is subbing, not headlining with a dance act playing after.

I could only see them playing below one of the dance acts mentioned (the smallest one), because then it would still be obvious that this band are headlining, not subbing.

Also I'd think they'd want to play in the dark.

I think if the said act has anyone after them it would have to be the smaller dance act, as the larger DJ type act would surely headline anywhere else. Maybe John would have to drop the said act or let them have the headline slot. As someone has already said (I think) any of the acts mentioned to perform afterwards wouldnt do Big Top because they are too big although I think two of the dance/dj acts are on a similar level in terms of pull, with the big name outshining the other two

If bestival get said dance act then I think I might end up going, but if IOW got any of the dance acts I would look at going there as I might be able to get free tickets , makes sense to go for free

I think I have a slight idea of who it might be, especially if both acts would interest Bestival, and may prefer the dark

I think Depeche Mode will probably be interesting festival bookers next year, although its obvious they're far more likely to end up at Bestival (and possibly Glasto)

Anyway, he's considering Rihanna as well, according to the paper.
